Was Tennessee's embarrassment an isolated incident?

Or is this indicative of the entire SEC East going forward? Or rather, the SEC Saban division, since three of the HCs in the SEC East are former assistants of his.

Every fricking year teams struggle in the opener. It's fun to make fun of, but it's literally the same song and dance as every opening weekend before this one.

Just Tennessee being Tennessee. Let the rest of the east speak for themselves.

Reminiscent of the Auburn Jacksonville state game last year.

Can you name the last team to win the NC after losing their first game, and whom did they lose to?

Struggling to a win =/= losing the opener.

Miami, 1983.

Do I get a cookie?

But seriously, UT looked horrible. The band nerd will be exposed this year.

Tennessee didn't lose.

I'm willing to bet the list is much longer of teams that struggled against teams they shouldn't in the OOC but still won their conference or their playoff/the BCS. Hell, Ohio State in 2014 is a prime example after losing to an unranked Virginia Tech team in their second game.*

*This is in no way a declaration that Tennessee will win the NC.

All we heard of offseason was how good Tennessee was. Either 2nd or 3rd in the conference, I was underwhelmed.

Here is what I took from last night's game.

1) Tennessee's offensive line is not good.
2) Tennessee's offensive coordinator is a fricking idiot.
3) Josh Dobb's makes terrible decisions with the football.
4) Appy State is a good football team and would finish 4th in the east imo.
5) Butch Jones is a snake oil salesman and should be put in jail for the failure of a coach he is.

This....
Every year people over react to the first games (good and bad). It is super fun to make fun of but that's about it.

Very true. I would even say squeaking out a win against a (much underrated) team will do wonders for the team. Nobody will care about this game in december, since yall won.

Last year, Ole Miss finished with the 2nd best record (both in conference and overall) in the league and lost to Memphis. What level of whelmed were you with them last year?

Embarrassment indeed. No coach and no QB, bad combo.
