Neither.
35-21 in Birmingham in 1972 when we were 9-0 did it for me. I was just a little tiger cub, but I remember...

Was it 21-0 or the fact that St. Nick Saban was the best LSU coach and now
is at UA that caused LSU fans to so resent Alabama?

I have nothing against little nickey...his boneheaded decision not to sign Drew Brees is the reason the Saints won a Super Bowl!
I think he is the greatest college football coach of all time...yes even better than Bear Bryant!

LSU rent free in another gump's small brain. Scintillating.

I always thought there was a mutual respect with LSU and Alabama. Till, that is, I came to this board. The majority of LSU fans here seem to hate Alabama like the Auburn and Tennessee fans do.

It's a simple question. I think the simple answer is that it started when Saban came to Alabama, got worse at 21-0, and gets a little worse every year UA wins that game.

Ignore the LSU fan replies....

Neither. Alabama is a divisional rival, thus hated equally amongst the rest of the west, only slightly in front of the east.

Nothin wrong with that anyway. Bout like it should be.
Actually, I always kind of liked LSU when they weren't playing Alabama, though naturally, I pull against them when Bama needs for them to lose.

An LSU thread started by a gump that hates LSU asking why LSU hates Alabama.
You really are an awful poster. I'm not even kidding.

Saban going to Bama was a lot of fun, insofar as being pumped for the games, except for 1-9-12 obviously, and really until about 2015 when I think we all realized we just weren't quite on the same level anymore. We really just don't have an annual rival, we always like hating the good teams, Bama has just traditionally been one of them more often than not. Believe me the Auburn and Florida rivalries have been pretty strong the past 20 years too, while Bama was down. Honestly it's more fun when you have two or three badass SEC teams alternating in winning the league. Hand it to Saban he's unbelievable but shite....

Do you want to know the answer?
The reason most LSU fans dislike Saban is becaaue he took away something from us that we can't get back. And that is the enjoyment of bringing back the winning National Championship coaches to celebrate anniversaries and such. Once he went to Bana and started winning, we couldn't invite him back, so it stings that he made that decision. Most of us have moved on, but you still have people that just hate him for the sake of hating.
Regarding the Alabama hate, I think it's cyclical. Before Saban got to Tuscaloosa, it was always Auburn or LSU that seemed to be battling for the West. We hated Auburn because they were the team to beat and it was always a tough fought game that meant success or failure in the West. Now that road goes through Bama, so those games mean the most and emotions are highest. I'm sure after Saban leaves if you have a drop off in winning, there will be another team that the road to the West championship will go through and we'll hate them.

I am almost positive that this will be the random LSU thread started by an Alabama fan that allows them to get over the Clemson loss. Finally.

It was 9-6 in Bama's house and the Mulligan for a non-division, non-conference winner.
What if Alabama didn't get the rematch that year, and let's assume that LSU would have beaten whatever team they played in the national title game. Les Miles would now own the most national titles of any LSU coach ever. Do you all think he's still have been fired last year, had that happened?

uhh, and it's 7:37 Eastern time now. And what? You people on Central time need to get with the rest of the business world.
You see that long gap between the op yesterday morning, and the next posts at about 6 pm? What does that tell you? It might be indicative to a reasonable man that I had some work, business, or other things to do more important than arguing with the silly likes of you. You will also notice that there are a few LSU fans in the thread that give simple and reasonable feedback to the topic. You are not one of those people.

I'd imagine Les would still be at LSU in this scenario

I graduated from LSU in ' 72 and resented Alabama back then.
What I really resent are all the Bama fans being insufferable, mostly.
Not all by any means but enough to cause resentment.
ETA: also the travesty that was 21-0 is still a sore spot. Not the score near as much as that any other school in Bama's position would not have been in that game .
