Just watched on SECN... admittedly, I didn't follow college baseball closely in those days, but that's a great story. Seems like a class guy.

Not coming from me.....
Some say the greatest story in the history of the CWS....
Some say it's a bigger story than that in college sports...

It's just the best.

Like a kick six, but for a championship.

I haven't seen it but know he hit an HR to win the title. What's the back story?

The oft quoted and omnipotent "some say." One of the best sources around and equivalent to the famous "word on the street" and "I'm hearing."

With that said, the Warren Morris homerun is an amazing story. I was pulling for LSU hard over Miami and jumped up and accidentally put my hand in a ceiling fan celebrating.

Walk off

Warren Morris missed most of the season with an injury, Not known to be a home run hitter, down 1, last out to go, hoping he hits a single to get the tying run in from second, and then he hits his first home run of the season on the last at bat of the season.

Scrawny kid out of place on powerhouse lsu team. Worked harder than everyone else to become an all American. Broke a bone in unusual place on hand playing for Olympic team. Missed most of jr season, came back just in time for tournaments. Hand still hurt though, so he could only bunt. LSU makes championship game and he is still hunting every at bat. Bottom of 9th... 2 outs... he takes a cut- gone... 2 run hr.

For some reason I had to work that day and missed it live. Watched the game on VCR (look it up, young folks), and as the inning started, my wife and kids were staring at me waiting on my reaction. I didn't know what was coming but they did. We still talk about it. But, not as often as my running up and down the garden rows when Burke Masters hit the grand slam in the 90 regional.

Thank you!
I was overcompensating because I didn't want to sound like the homer that I admit I am! :)
But if anyone watched the story, it was sports writers from several parts of the country making those comments....
I appreciate a Bama fan appreciating something that should be appreciated!
How's that! :)

The thing is, with the talent on that team, nobody expected that hit to come from him... he was a speed guy, not a power guy... there were 8 other guys you would have wanted to be in that spot, and when he got up there, it was kind of a poor Warren moment... this kid has been hurt all year, and was still hurt, and he is going to be the final out

Until...
