UT needs to get into Memphis.

Easier said than done. Ole Miss, Alabama, and Arkansas have fortified that city for their own purposes. It's going to take a lot to push them out.

When's the last time the state of Tennessee produced a player as good as Julio Jones or T.J. Yeldon?

He is playing for the Pats right now.

Oxford to Memphis is a little over an hour's drive. Your comparison really doesn't hold.

Also, the town itself has probably as many Ole Miss fans as Tennessee fans, and the Commercial Appeal covers Ole Miss as closely as they do any other SEC school if not more closely, so really Memphis is an Ole Miss town.

This is true. While I feel somewhat bad for the Tennessee fan base for the current rut the football program has found itself in, I can't help but smile when I think of Roy Adams and how his hatred for all things Alabama has finally come back around to bite him on the arse. Karma's a bitch.

Memphis is as much an Ole Miss/Arkansas city as it is UT. Coach Jones has increased a presence in the Middle Tennessee area. The Nashville area is one of the fastest growing areas in the country and with that the high school talent is getting better. I think he is going to try to get into Memphis as much as he can but Nashville is an area that he is focusing on more than any other within the state.

So what your saying is, Oxford is a easier city to sell to recruits then Knoxville? Got it

Are you talking about Wilcox? Because he wasn't fired. He left for Washington.

Knoxville is as "urban" as Jackson, Mississippi.

Lulz at there being any comparison between Knoxville and any rathole town located in the land mass. You're right, Knoxville isn't necessarily a great town, but it absolutely fricking dwarfs anything Mississippi has to offer.

What, in size? Big fricking deal and who fricking cares?

When are y'all going to accept that people simply don't like Knoxville?

Over the past decade, our recruiting has been pretty damn similar, with Tennessee mixing a few top-10 classes with a few train wrecks.

So, yeah, a program with less recent success, a much smaller recruiting budget, and a couple of awful coaching hires has performed pretty fricking well when compared to Tennessee and the resources at its disposal.

What makes you think Tennessee has out-recruited Ole Miss as of late? All those conference victories y'all have? shite, the OP of this thread laments the talent level in Knoxville, yet y'all are going to now say that you've recruited well?

Our few "Train Wreck" seasons, were the fricking norm for you

2002: UT #2 - OM # 33
2003: UT #18 - OM 38
2004: UT #20 - OM # 45
2005: UT #4 - OM # 30
2006: UT #23 - OM #15
2007: UT #3 - OM #27
2008: UT #35 - OM #29
2009: UT #10 - OM #18
2010: UT #9 - OM #18
2011: UT #13 - OM #19
2012:UT #17 - OM #40
2013: UT #20 - OM# 7
That's 5 top 10 classes, and only 1 class outside of the top 25 for the past 11 seasons.

Tell me more about how Oxford is easier to sell then Knoxville

Your tennessee. All y'all need is a great coach and you'll be back. Maybe Jones will be it?

Oh, right, rankings. Totally. That's where you're coming from.

I'm actually going by wins and losses here. If Tennessee has been such a great recruiter as of late, then why haven't y'all been winning?
