Waiting until next year to declare is not a bad move at all. The 2017 draft class is very deep at RB.

I think it would be a good decision to stay, but I'm sure I would have filed if I were in his shoes, just to see where I stood.

Walterfootball has him as the 4th back taken this draft after the obvious top 3.

He's projected late 2nd- Early 3rd, don't know how much he can improve his stock, especially with Chubb and Michele staying.

A good year as the primary back and he can lock in the 2nd round. With a really good year he could even sneak into the back end of the 1st, which is something that won't happen this year.

He's, at worst, a 2nd round talent that could possibly fall to the 3rd this year. That makes it worth waiting IMO.

Does anyone else have him that high in their RB ranking? I like Kamara, but that seems like a stretch.

There are some very good backs this year. Not including the top 3.

Perine
Freeman
McNichols
Gallman
Pumphrey
Clement

Idk, Walterfootball is really the only mock I follow. He has everything needed to be a very good pro back, just doesn't have nearly the tape available since he was ignored for a year and a half here

I just can't see him staying. Would be huge, because we missed on Akers and we'll be starting a new QB.

But I also don't want him to save Butch's job.

It's very unusual for RBs to stay if they have a favorable projection, I will admit that.

As solid a reason as any.

I think Kamara will be a beast at the next level and I've said that for two years. He's everything you want in a running back for today's spread it out NFL offenses imo

That's really the issue. He has done some good stuff, and has shined when given the opportunity. He simply hasn't been given that opportunity as often as he should.

The games where he got a legit number of touches came against UGA, A&M, UK, Mizzou, and Vandy. UGA limited him, and the others rank 90th, 87th, 118th, and 64th in total defense. So his tape features defenses ranging from average to terrible.

And that's on Butch for trying to feed the lumbering ox that is Jalen Hurd rather than getting the ball to a playmaker.

His draft stock won't change either way, so it doesn't matter if he files for ppw or what.

Absolutely zero chance he will be coming back.

I didn't want to bring this up, but you also said Kamara, JRM and Sutton would be leaving early last year

The payment will need to be much larger to get Kamara to come back for a second time.
