Another loss to Florida puts his goofy arse right on the hot seat where he belongs imo.

Dooley is the better coach.

Win and the OU game will be forgiven.

Lose and he will have lost the fan base.

It's that simple

Well, he can't play the game and coach the game..........i mean, dropped passes in critical moments, bad penalties, missed tackles!!!

You guys just tackle that QB at 2 of the more important moments of that game, it's no longer a game.....

Also, if he loses, it is just a matter of time before him Mom calls local sports radio to defend him. Low rent Brian Kelly will have to wait for the ND job to open up so he can secure his next gig.

So who was Spurrier?

When will the Vols find their Urban Meyer?

volfan30 I trust you, you were pretty much the only Vol fan to turn on Dooley before 2012.

I feel a little sorry for Tennessee. I'm afraid that you're looking at a 2-5 start to the season. The OU game was a back breaker.

Fwiw, the Vols will be loaded if they fire Butch and get a competent coach.

Butch Zook would be an amazing coach, at least to set a team up to win-- imagine that recruiting.

(for all the shite Zook gets he was a far superior coach to Boom and frankly what he did at Illinois after being fired from Florida is kind of fricking insane-- a Rose Bowl berth for the Illini?)

It's been obvious since day 1 that this job is way too big for him.

Butchy is Zook 2.0 simple as that. Great recruiter but I dont think he has the staff in place to get over the hump cause we all know SEC fans are impatient. If given two more years he might be what the program needs...but dont think UT wants to wait past next year?

That really depends. If he tanks this year and next year, by which I mean missing bowl games, it's possible we cut bait. Even if we continue to underachieve but make bowl games (7-5ish), he'll stick around solely because of the recruiting. But that in and of itself will begin to suffer the longer we go without winning.

I honestly think 5 years is the minimum unless it all totally falls apart (5-7, 4-8, something like that for more than one year).

We let Zook go and he never had losing record and we beat LSU at red stick when they won NC with Saban...their only loss was to Zook. We went 8-5 when Zook was fired.

Really? I never thought he was a good x & o coach but the recruiting would help balance all that. What made you think it was to big for him?
