Actually, I think that it is in UT's advantage that the game is early in the season. OU is adjusting to a new offensive coordinator who is known for passing attacks...and (with their two excellent running backs) they could actually struggle to find their identity on offense the first couple of games.
East Carolina rush/pass % of total offense under Lincoln Riley:
2010 - 26/74
2011 - 28/72
2012 - 33/67
2013 - 30/70
2014 - 30/70
For the same period of time, Oklahoma's rush/pass % of total offense was:
2010 - 28/72
2011 - 32/68
2012 - 32/68
2013 - 53/47
2014 - 56/44
You can see that for the last two years, there was a huge shift in Oklahoma's offense. While what Riley runs is similar to what OU ran the three years prior, majority of the players on this team are used to a run heavy offense from the past two seasons. How happy will Perine and Mixon be with 10-12 carries per game (which is about what the top backs averaged under Riley for the last 5 seasons at ECU).

Vols kick a FG to win it. Maybe.

I think a lot has changed. Completely new QB, added another 5* RB, improvements on DLine and secondary. Like I stated in my post this is a completely different team and the OU game is much closer without Worley throwing a pick-6 and a blocked field goal as the team with the most freshman in CFB on their 1st away game...

This game is really hard to predict. I think the game being at home should give us the edge, but noone on this team has beaten a quality opponent yet. I'll say Oklahoma by seven until the Vols show me they can win meaningful games.

Look. I have followed Aggie Football long enough to play the, "eliminate the dumbfoundingly stupid plays and the score is pretty much even" game. Hell I've been a Cowboys fan too and I've done the same shite. As I've gotten older, I've realized how dumb that thinking is. That pick 6, and a lot of turnovers for that matter, was a culmination of a lot of things. Futility leads to just trying something riskier and dumber simply because y'all have no option. They outclassed you from about the first snap.
For context on me watching y'all play Oklahoma... I watch every OU game I can. I loathe them. My entire family is from that state and I absolutely love it when they lose. I was rooting for y'all last year and I'll be rooting for you this year. Y'all finished the season strong, and they fell flat on their face, so I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that you win, but they were so far ahead of you that I find it hard to believe. I like Dobbs, and y'all are definitely better with him, but your offensive line won't be THAT much better, and your defense... Well. Like A&M it's still simply too young.

3 plays accounted for a 28 point swing in the score in the UT/OU game last year

That's the case for a lot of games. That's not some sort of anomaly. You can't take them back. OU was good enough to make those plays, and Tennessee let them happen.

I guess the difference in our thinking is how big of a difference a year makes. I don't think that our oline will be world beaters but I do think they improve. We have completely different QB/RB play and a vastly improved Dline. I'm not saying we win, but to say that "they beat us last year so it's gonna happen this year" isn't looking at what's changed in these two squads. We could win or we could lose, but what I do know is that it'll be close.

Never said we could. But this game was closer than the final score made it out to be, and its going to be a hard-fought one coming up. I say 50/50 game right now

Last year it was an embarrassing lost for Tennessee. This year it will be closer but OU still wins.
OU= 27
Tenn= 17

Not really. At half y'all should have been down by way more, and just because they scored one more time when it was already over and y'all had been mentally broken, doesn't mean that it shouldn't count. The score was pretty reflective of how much better they were than y'all that day.

Disagree with you here. I believe UT turned the ball over a couple times in the red zone including that pick 6. Tennessee competed well, they just made a couple crucial errors that they are less likely to make with Dobbs at QB.

Thats what im saying
2 picks in the endzone (one a pick 6) and a fumble right before the endzone = 28 point swing on 3 dumb plays
2 picks in the endzone (one a pick 6) and a fumble right before the endzone = 28 point swing on 3 dumb plays

Nah. The new blood over the last decade has been good for the SEC East.

How is embarrassing yourself in the Championship game good for the east at all?

In my opinion, there is no way Perine only carries 10-12 times a game unless Mixon proves to be better.I believe TN beats OU.
