Vandys OC should be taken outside and then tarred & feathered. VU's defense played major college football till 4th qt when they were worn out from being on the field too long in 2nd half. But Vandys offense was middle school and I can only recall 1 damn pass attempted on first down, even when WKU stacked 8-9 men in the box. McCreary is a gamer but cannot throw accurately or past 10-12 yds. Teams are going to stack the line. WRs for Vandy are God awful.

VU should have won this game but they let WKU keep it close and it bit them...they only allowed 46 yds of offense in first half but eventually faded when offense showed they were a 3 & out machine. Way too many 3rd and 7-8 yds. Couldnt convert trips in red zone into points. I think the OC is either handicapped by Mason or he is just too skeered to open the offense a tad wider.

Anyone from the Rant could have done better calling offensive plays. Shame.

No need in getting worked up about him caring about your caring.

You must have missed the 2 interceptions and dropped pass in the end zone and the missed field goal, and you want to blame the oc?? LOL

You agree that our QB sucks, but you think we should be throwing more? Stick to typing, ****.

Vandy needs a QB . The one they have sucks . The 2 interceptions in the red zone were horrible.

While the Vandy OC did not cover himself in glory last night the offensive problems facing that team is that their offensive line isn't very good and their QB is lousy at throwing the ball.

Throwing on any down is going to be a challenge for them. They should have a bit more success with a power running game, but they don't have the OL to really compete with that in the SEC for a full game.

It might be time to emphasis the option plays in the offense until the OL improves or they figure out a way to enhance their limited passing attack.

Ludwig is a terrible coach and has been for over a decade. I don't know how he keeps getting jobs.

Having sat through the entire game in person I would say this.

1. Vanderbilt's coaching staff, in particular Mason, did a great job. They put the team in a position to win over and over and over again. At some point players have to make plays.

2. Could the offensive playcalling have been better? Probably. But you can say that about a lot of teams. Remember, their QB has a less than 100% leg and and the offensive line isn't the best when healthy and already lost what may be their best lineman for the season. Vandy does not have the depth that other programs have.

3. Honestly, as disappointed as I was, I feel okay. I sat through the Temple debacle last year and what I saw was improved 500% over the last year.

Compared to last year, Vandy at least looked like they had a pulse. The D played very well until they wore out. The offense at least had a clue about what they were supposed to do. A little bit was bad calls. A little bit was bad decisions. A little bit was bad execution. You expect some of that in game 1, but not that much. They should have won by 2 TD's.

Held WKU to 37 yards rushing. Vandy blew that game. They look more solid than last year. They'll upset somebody this year. WKU isn't a bad team, especially offensively. Vandy's D just made them look bad.

I thought the offensive gameplan was okay until they got to the red zone. Not very imaginative and had McCreary throwing into a lot of traffic when that clearly isn't his strength.

McCreary seemed to float the ball a lot. He will have a ton of ints if he keeps it up.

Defense did look good. I feel for Mason on this one. Vanderbilt really let that one slip away. Western Kentucky is a solid team as well. They return the majority of their players and were teetering around the top 25 all last season. Vanderbilt looks light years better than last year. They really let that one get away.

The QB does suck, but he's very swift and nimble. He can get away from pressure and extend plays. He's probably the best option, but he's got to make some better plays. Obviously that dropped pass isn't on him. That WR/TE guy should be tarred and feathered as well.

Laugh all you want, but Vanderbilt's running back is top 3 in the SEC (behind Fournette and Chubb).
