Per ESPN Jeff Goodman:

Been wondering who they would land. I'm not too hip on basketball HC searches, but it's a recognizable name. How would the resident Vandy fan feel?

Cool. Even more reason to hate both Drew and Vandy.

God, I still remember watching that shot go down (and I'm talking about the shot, not the replays over and over). I was in grad school at Ole Miss and enjoyed watching their basketball team. Watching the game in the dorm room of a friend of mine. We both just sat there with our mouths open for about three minutes in disbelief.

It was the most WAOM moment in the history of sports.

4th and 25 was much worse IMO. games like the Valpo shot happen every year in the NCAA tournament and it's not like it was a half court shot. 4th and 25 was probably Ole Miss' biggest WOAM moment I can think of, as the play itself was about as ridiculous as it gets, on top of what it meant for Ole Miss' season.

This cost them their first legit SECW title. This is way worse than that shot.

Serraux will tell you he's happy with Barnes and think's hes a better basketball coach. It's why he's wrong all the time.

Personally very happy. VU took a crack at some really big names that came up empty but at the end was able to get an extremely promising coach in Drew. Very good resume for a youn HC who took over for his dad after the program had slipped pretty badly. 4 conference titles in 5 years as a HC, 2 NCAAs and a NIT finals appearance. Not going to find too many mid majors with that type of resume ready to make a move.

Also his best player at Valpo is about to be a grad transfer that would fill an immediate need on VUs roster. Could be set up for a nice first season.

Yes, 4th and 25 was worse. (Thanks again, Hogs).
I was guilty of a bit of hyperbole.

Works for me. Since K and Roy and Self aren't knocking down our doors desperate for a job here, I'll happily take a chance on a successful mid-major coach looking to prove his worth in the big leagues.

Also, while I remember The Shot -- half my kinfolk went on a bender after that -- I didn't recall his name. If we get him, I'm claiming that play for Vandy. Reverse eminent domain.
