Hey Carolina fans I heard that Jake Bentley might get to start in a couple of weeks. Is this true? I know he was a high 2017 QB prospect but do y'all think boom is going to start him this season instead of redshirting him?

this is insane. No way this is happening. Lost year and you gain nothing by doing this. That being said, Id bet he starts next year. Dad didn't have him graduate early to sit behind a guy in the class above him for 4 years. They at least think he is better.

I think he should be redshirted but apparently that's the word around some of the sc fans.

Wow if true... Kids got all tools to be great one day... There can be such a thing as too much too soon.

Drew lock is a perfect example. Very good QB tossed into the fire way too soon, Mauk really fricked it up for him.

It's now or wait till next year imo. Everything we've heard from the media is he's the most talented and if the coaches feel he's ready he's got a legit shot at the start. If he's as good as they say he will be by the time he's done I don't think it's going to matter because he won't stay all 5 years.

Either way I'm going to have no issue with him starting this weekend or going ahead and putting on the redshirt. I see the argument on both sides.

If he hasn't played yet he never will. I would rather see him come in and play next year behind an offensive line coached by someone not named Shawn Elliott.

Y'all should have a pretty good team next year which would be better for Bentley. How young is y'all's o-line?

The o-line was suppose to be one of the strong suits, instead they've been our weakest link, imo. Shawn Elliott has had 6 years and he still can't get this group to mold.

Our OLine is the experienced bunch. That's why we're all ready for Elliot to get fired.

Some were highly recruited too.

I can see that now. If he's had that long and they haven't produced the results expected then there's no excuse.

That's an awful argument. Look at Auburn and JJ. We started him in pointless games as a freshman, costing him an extra year to develop thinking he would go pro early. LSU did the same with Harris. Don't burn that redshirt. Don't do it.

Btw, that's a total Muschamp move. Y'all will probably do it.

I could have sworn everyone was glad when Elliot was retained.

Many argued that the team played well under him and to give him a year. You're right but for slightly different reasons

As of today, we are hearing this is more and more likely.

I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I never want coaches to "write off" a season, so I can understand putting possibly the best guy out there to try and sneak a win somewhere to get bowl eligible. Would be worth it, help with recruiting, positive morale heading into next season

On the other hand, we're halfway through the season already and we're still figuring out our QB situation? It's the line that is the major Achilles heel of this team, and nobody you put back there is going to fix that. So why waste a year of eligibility when you can redshirt?

I'm torn.
