We all know LSU is DBU. But do the Game Cocks of South Carolina have a better claim than Florida as the #2 DBU?

A case could be made that other schools have more prominent defensive backs than South Carolina. But check out this list of solid starting defensive backs who enjoyed good NFL careers: two-time Pro Bowler Johnathan Joseph, Dunta Robinson, Darian Stewart, D.J. Swearinger, Stephon Gilmore, Chris Culliver, Captain Munnerlyn, Fred Bennett, Ko Simpson, Sheldon Brown and Andre’ Goodman. The depth is remarkable for a program not often associated with DBU. Now can Will Muschamp, a defensive-minded head coach, tap into this history with the Gamecocks?

LSU
NFL starts - 635
Pro Bowls - 6
Draft Picks - 12
First Round picks - 4

Florida
NFL Starts - 485
Pro Bowls - 4
Draft Picks - 10
First round picks - 3

GameCocks
NFL starts - 668
Pro Bowls - 2
Draft Picks - 9
First round draft picks - 2

With the the amount of times Florida QBs turn the ball over this year, their defense will have tons of practice every week, so I think UF keeps the #2 spot in 2017.

Pretty impressive considering how both Florida and LSU outclass us in talent by a landslide

Sheldon Brown for starters...was an absolute beast!
This was by far one of the greatest hits of the season in 06...

Since I assume it's an all-time list, not too unusual. I mean, 9, 11, 12 draft picks (and drafts used to go on forever) isn't shocking when a university is located in (or on the edge of) one of the best recruiting hotbeds. Easily the best, if you consider all SEC territory as a whole, which would put it above Texas and California, what with Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Alabama.

Well, apparently the Gators are still in hiding...So with no defense...USCe is #2 DBU.
