Thursday night so student's have classes the following day (not that any will attend) and some people need to get back to jobs. Plus Ole Miss and Boise St. is at 8 so they don't want to overlap.

ETA: and according to the post below Vandy plays afterwards on the SECNetwork. The SC-A&M game is in a much better time slot, and on top of that they will almost always make the East Coast game before the Central time zone game in these scenarios.

The Vandy game starts at 9:15 on secn. If they waited till 7 it woulda pushed that game to 10:15

The SECN uses a lunar calendar to schedule games because of their satellites' trajectories. They screwed up their calculations because of a solar flare and thought the game was on a Saturday, hence the 5PM start time. Hope this helps.

6 PM start on East Coast, the only time zone that matters. And there will be overlap with the Ole Miss game unless you think the first game will end in 2 hours......hello? McFly?

hahahah, I figured one of the Cock fans would be upset, Hell you should be excited A&M is being considered 2nd tier

but for the Record, I do understand what he meant with it being the first big SEC game of the year.

Our opener started at 6 last year also. ESPN is trying to squeeze as many games into Thursday night as possible, so we have to start earlier.

They are closing area schools early and are encouraging people to leave work early tomorrow so that traffic can be a little less of an issue.

Check out this link Time Zones then determine which time zone applies to you. Once you do that, simply deduce the time it "really starts" by comparing your time to 6 PM eastern.
