USA Today: Ole Miss is screwed, Hugh Freeze the likely scapegoat

This is all rather self-evident, but the article brings up something I was unaware of in regards to current NCAA enforcement:
USA Today article
quote:
While Ole Miss will contest the accuracy and seriousness of some of these charges, you can bet the NCAA’s case here is structurally sound and airtight from an evidence standpoint. Unlike previous regimes, where the NCAA tried to throw every possible allegation at schools to see what might stick, current vice president of enforcement Jon Duncan has implemented a more conservative philosophy over the last couple years. They’re only going to charge schools with the stuff they can prove, and everything released so far points toward a football program that is about to get absolutely hammered based on process as much as principle.

So what are the rebel bears holding on bama. Since Saban was one of people that ratted them out. We are playing the MAD card right ?

Actually Freeze made a point to say that Saban was one of the few NOT using this to fvck with Ole Miss
quote:
“It’s made my appreciation for the people that do it the right way that much greater. Many of them are in our conference. My friendship has grown with several of those throughout this, because of the respect I’ve gained when you’re in a battle with Alabama or somebody and they do it the right way. I respect that.”

Wolken had been right on about most of this but has gotten lambasted by OM fans on twitter for perpetuating this "witch hunt"

Ole Miss was the one that got Scarborough in trouble and we told the NCAA so we didn't get in trouble by playing an illegal guy.

Probably positioning to be the next OC for Saban a few years from now.

Freeze isn't a scapegoat... There's know way he didn't know what was going on. Not saying he was totally complicit in it, but you know he knew at some level. He made his bed, he has to lie in it.

Freeze knew what was going on.
Big mouth OM boosters bragged about what was going on.
Even if you assume Freeze didn't know what was going on, he should have.

Hugh Freeze trying to position himself as an Offensive Advisor on Bama's shadow staff.

Saban doesn't need to compete with OM/Freeze. People make a huge deal about how OM beat Bama twice in a row, but the thing they never did was present a real challenge to Bama's dynasty. They won a couple games and took a couple recruits Bama coveted. At no point did they threaten Bama's dominance at either the conference or the national level. Too many people have trouble understanding that competitiveness in top-level coaches doesn't turn them into 7th graders. Saying someone like Saban hates losing isn't the same as saying someone like Saban will get petty and vindictive. He's a professional. Professionals know that losing is part of life and learn from it.

I would think Coach 0 would know more about what's going
on in Ole Miss than Saban. I wonder if some of this might come back and bite him in the arse.

That's what gets me. And it's not just Wolken, it's anybody who said anything about OM cheating.
Now they use words like "witch hunt" and "scapegoat", as if they are being wronged. They insinuate that upsetting the status quo was the reason they are being punished.
They are getting punished because they blatantly broke rules. Everybody knew it when it was happening. They were defiant and indignant all along. The writing was on the wall and Freeze is no 'scapegoat'.

This.
It's Ole Miss boosters gone wild is what it is. Maybe they're rookies and don't understand the concept of a bagman.

If you believe that, then you must have believed OM wasn't cheating when Freeze sent his famous show me the proof tweet out. Maybe you also believed the NCAA was only finding stuff on the old coaching staff.
So far, truth in his words is as common as crystal clear pictures of Bigfoot.

quote:I honestly dont think coaches ever rat each other out. That is a blood cult fraternity of them rehiring their shitty friends that suck at their jobs. I think university members and boosters rat out, but the coaches dont. You never know when you might need a job from that coach.
Since Saban was one of people that ratted them out

Does that mean that he doesn't respect himself??

While I agree in general with you, I wouldn't say ever...Fulmer did rat out Bama in the Means case as he was the NCAA secret witness despite denying it...

It is scandalous that they threw stuff at schools they couldn't prove in the past.
