Ya, seems that way. I will still be very surprised if they go with Barnett or Hurts but could be wrong.

I could see Hurts starting before Barnett.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Bateman start at QB at the beginning the season, but someone take the job at the season progresses.

Highly unlikely, since that is against NCAA rules. I'd love to see Johnson get his head out of his arse. He has the tools to take us all the way. It's just a mental thing for him, lack of confidence and can't seem to handle the pressure. White is limited, but he's confident. Too bad they can't put White's brain in Johnson's body. SEC would be fuuuuuuucked

How the hell do you get "updates" when fall practices haven't started?....patience butterfly.

Yep, I personally expected it to be White or JF III at this point but some Auburn fans have said don't count out Johnson.

Has Saban or the other coaches not discussed it at all in the past month. I'm not asking for a practice report.

Correct. The QBs have been working out with the coaches every day since the end of spring practice and Johnson has emerged as the front runner.
If that's the case, then Auburn will be on probation again before long.

Mississippi State is still wide open 4 man battle with Nick Fitzgerald believed to be the leader.

So Mullen is moving to a more passing-based offense like the Utah years?

Georgia fans- Do we have any more hints about who is going to start week 1? It seems like most believe that Lambert will start while Eason eventually takes over the reins.

Nothing more than a guess. There aren't going to be any public updates until after a couple scrimmages at least.

I don't know how he cant look better. I rewatched the Iron Bowl last week and he looked dreadful.

Kirby said he probably won't have an idea of a starter until game week.

I think that is the biggest issue with Johnson. He may well light it up in practice and definitely has the talent to outshine everyone else if he is playing well. The issue is until the lights come on on gameday, you have no idea what to expect from him, and I'm not sure how much of his practice work can be trusted after last year

Sounds about right for his style of coaching

Auburn fans- I believe JF III gained some momentum early but I'm hearing that Johnson is looking better. White had some good moments last year while banged up. Has JF III not done enough to be named the starter? Truly seems like it is still a 3 way battle.

How the hell did you come to this?

And , Jeremy Johnson will start against Clemson.

Everyone's been pretty tight lipped about it, but it legitimately seems like an open competition. If I had to guess, I would say I think the coaches want Eason to look good enough to win the job right away so they can justify getting him experience without hurting the team. This feels like the Tereshinski/Stafford situation all over again.

If I were a coach at AU, there's no way I would declare to the outside world who my starter is. There's a pretty wide range of what each of their guys are good at, so why tell Clemson what to work on. Make them prepare for White who isn't the best of runners, and JFIII who can run but isn't the best of passers. And teach their DL to run 10 yards behind the QB incase Johnson plays.
