Georgia fans- Do we have any more hints about who is going to start week 1? It seems like most believe that Lambert will start while Eason eventually takes over the reins.

Auburn fans- I believe JF III gained some momentum early but I'm hearing that Johnson is looking better. White had some good moments last year while banged up. Has JF III not done enough to be named the starter? Truly seems like it is still a 3 way battle.

Alabama fans- Bateman is the front-runner, correct?
Barrnett has some hype but is he really in the running? Hurts had the best spring game performance but he is a true freshman. That is not even mentioning Cornwell. Will Saban have a rotation in the first few games much like last year?

Florida fans- Don't think there is much to discuss. It's Del Rio at this point correct?

South Carolina- Orth is the safe pick but McIlwain did have nice moments in the spring game.

Yep, I personally expected it to be White or JF III at this point but some Auburn fans have said don't count out Johnson.

Mississippi State is still wide open 4 man battle with Nick Fitzgerald believed to be the leader.

Ya, didn't include Mississippi state because he seems like he has a great lead above those other guys

Nah, if I had sources I wouldn't be asking the fans.

I think that JF3 will be given every opportunity to win that job. Don't know if he can do it, but I think if he emerged as the guy, that would align with what the coaches want. I've also heard spots of Johnson looking good, and the players love him. I still think the coaches know what type of talent he has, and they still have memories from his first few years and hope he snaps back into that guy.
I get the feeling that White is the steadiest if the group, and will be fine, but I think he is a highest floor/lowest ceiling guy, and we are comfortable with him as the guy but would rather have the other two win the job. Most fans and many of our coaches think white is a pretty good player, but just reading the tea leaves (no inside knowledge personally) it feels like the coaches want one of those other two to beat white out

So I guess I'm saying we don't have a dang clue

My thought as well and I don't know if that is a bad sign that he hasn't been named or the coaches just decided not to release anything yet.

This is what I was referring to in my post. It seems like he really has a legit shot and that is surprising to me.

Ya, kind of expected this but good insight

I think Orth will be starter first game, but I wouldn't give it too long before McIlwain takes over

From what I am hearing,

Bateman: has two major issue. Confidence and the long ball. Could be fixed, will it.

Barnett: has been somewhat of a turnover machine, he is working on it. Hasn't made a ton of improvement.

Hurts: coaches son, has good football smarts, way above that of a fresh. Good speed, arm, etc.

Cornwell: standard Pro style guy, if they decide to go that route he is the guy, strong arm.

Bottom line, unlike most years where you had a clue who it would be, this is a legit QB battle.

Just from the spring game, he seems like a player who is going to be dangerous once he gets some SEC experience.

Ya, seems that way. I will still be very surprised if they go with Barnett or Hurts but could be wrong.

i'm wondering what updates you think are occurring during summer workouts when coaches can't coach?

need long ball to spread the defense in running game.

Not on a Saban team.

Seems like you would want Cornwell for your team's style. Run the ball well and play-action pass off that. I'm not sure Bama needs to run spread sets.

Correct. The QBs have been working out with the coaches every day since the end of spring practice and Johnson has emerged as the front runner.

That would make sense if I started a thread like this every week. Doesn't have to be about something that happened in the last two weeks or month. Coaches are still discussing things that happened during the fall.

Pretty much where I was with it. Cornwell won't impress you with his feet but he can sling it. Hurts is new but the kid can play. Will be really interesting to see who emerges.
