Y'all are definitely stuck with Stoops for at least another year. If it was a shitty basketball coach, you would pay that buyout. But there's not enough interest in Kentucky football that you'll pay an 18 million dollar buyout.

The whole Stoops at Kentucky thing has been painful to watch as someone who isn't a Wildcat fan. I can only imagine it must be like going through multiple years of the John L. Smith "Smile" debacle.

There's decent talent, he's recruited better than most coaches before him at UK (in the last several years). The facilities are the best they've ever been.
There's no good reason right now why he shouldn't be consistently bowl eligible.

While not great, still not the worst.
Here are at least 8 of the 64 schools I would give Kentucky the edge if they played each other this year.
ACC has
Boston College (1-2), Duke (1-2), and Virginia (0-3)
B12 has
Kansas (1-2) and Iowa State (0-3)
B1G has
Purdue (1-1), Illinois (1-2), and Northwestern (1-2)
(plus some others now they have run out of cupcake non conference games)
PAC has
Oregon State (1-1) and Washington State (1-2)
(Maybe schools like Colorado now they have stopped non conference games)
