according to THIS SITE

in an admittedly short and not too extensive google search, the only evidence I could find was this from SDS

Says we went 6-0 in conference, but we only have 5 SEC games on schedule...

Miami kept us from a perfect season

I know some of the Tulane LSU games in the 60s counted as SEC games after Tulane left the conference

I think it was kind of normal back then to do things like this. people didn't take cfb as seriously then as now

Wow. You have to go pretty far back to see when uga had a successful season other than save a few years.

UGA has far more overall wins than Florida, far more head to head wins in the Georgia/Florida series, and far more SEC titles.

It has to be embarrassing to lose to Miami pre 1980.

Was ULM ever a national power?

This happened a number of times in the late 1960s. After Georgia Tech and Tulane withdrew from the conference, several SEC schools now lacked the minimum number of required conference games. Because schedules were already contractually agreed upon years in advance, the easiest course of action was simply to "designate" a conference opponent in lieu of GaTech and Tulane.

It's legit too, check the SEC media guide.

Remember reading that a State Vs. Texas Tech matchup was designated SEC Game, back in the '60's...

Yeah apparently there were a few random years throughout history where a team for some reason couldn't play the minimum number of required SEC games and thus there was this pool of schools that could serve as a substitute "SEC" game if they had to, they were all southern teams as well, just not SEC teams.

It took 15 more years for Miami to build itself into a power after 1966. Losing to Miami back then is the equivalent to losing to ULM these days.

Just quit before posting any more stupid things. Miami was top ten in 1966.

they put up a handful of 8 win seasons during the 50s and 60s back when teams only played 10 or 11 total games. They had some stinkers too but to compare them to ULM is just retarded.

You must be quite proud of UGAs record in the 1940s when their football team stayed on campus while UF and the rest of the SEC went overseas to fight WW2. And you beat us 75-0 when we had no real team....how proud you must be. Every damn game from 1941-45 should be forfeited by the leghumpers.

Shame on you. As a footnote, Spurrier was told the story back in 1963 when he first arrived at UF as a frosh and he never forgot it....everytime he kicked your azzs in the 1990s he relished the thought of payback for those walk ons and scrubs who played back then while the elite of our team went overseas.
