UGA Getting Undressed on Mike and Mike regarding transfers...

Wow. Chuck Oliver and John Kincaide too yesterday. Said Kirby made a huge gaffe of the process and it was surprising seeing how he was supposed to be so polished being under Saban for so long.
Here's why:
Transfer policy version 1. AJ Turman asks for a transfer to be closer to home. Kirby says not a chance that he committed to UGA and he will stick it out. Or at least stay until summer. Version 1 of Kirbys stance on transfers.
Transfer policy version 2. Then some time later, Kirby changes his mind. Now he says Turman can transfer to any school in Florida to be closer to home except UF and Miami. Mike and Mike had the big issue here because 3 years ago McGarity undressed GT for now allowing Robert Carter to transfer from GT to UGA. Now McGarity has no issue with disclaiming Miami. Big hypocrite there.
Transfer policy version 3. Kirby now says ok wait a minute now we will expand your options to any school except those in the SEC and GT.
So which is Kirby? Started out a hardass and ended up essentially negotiating. And Dawg fans before you try and throw water on this, this all came from a conversation from Chuck Oliver with Seth Emerson and Kirby has been public with it so don't go there.
So far all that learning under Saban hasn't made the great one immune to typical rookie HC gaffes. Looks more like he never had a real plan and was caught off guard someone would want to leave his program.

You are really reaching for this one

I would tell the kid good luck and go wherever you want. Life's too short to worry about one player.

You typed all that up as if you expected someone to care...

Not my comments. National media's comments though.

It always amazes me how these guys try to "make" news and (like Cowherd) know very little about what they speak, but freely disparage another's character with impunity

I'm sure that the fact it was about UGA had nothing to do with you posting it.

You know we've got a new coach, right? And you know the coach has a massive say in this policy, right? Why is mcgarity to blame?
Richt let people go anywhere, I'm sure you know since our backup running back JJ Green transferred from UGA to tech. Kirby said AJ can go somehwere in FL if he wants other than UF (which makes complete sense) or miami (I don't really get this part of it, seems odd to me).

What's wrong with that?
Seems like he realizes his earlier decisions weren't quite best and now he's making things right, why is that a problem?

He's a first time head coach. YOu don't think there's some things that are going to be new to him?

That's all he does on here.

No you wouldn't. It's bad business to allow players to transfer somehwere you could play against them a few times.

If a player is honestly committing to a university and not a coach, there should be rules to protect said university. No Florida defensive player that committed to Will Muschamp should be allowed to transfer to USCe without sitting out a year.
The media likes to play favorites and I understand Mark Richt is a favorite of theirs. This would be a non-story if a Georgia player wanted to transfer to Bama to play for Jeremy Pruitt and he had to sit out a year.
What if it was a stud player at UGA with a 4.0 and he wanted to transfer to Tech? No way in the world would that be OK for that transfer to a cross-state rival to happen without him sitting out a year.

Doesn't the SEC have a rule you have to sit 2 years is going straight from one SEC to another?

Not sure, but I think that's fair if so.

This is what happens when you have a first-time HC who isn't used to doing PR and an AD who is a PR disaster who is therefore unable to help him.
AJ Turman didn't want to go to Miami anyway. He's likely going to UCF, a school that he is released to.
This was Kirby asking Turman to give the new staff a chance. He can't actually block Turman from leaving UGA. This isn't prison.
