leave your state? My favorite example is the 2007 class when Eric Berry, Cam Newton, Cameron Heyward, and Allen Bailey left the state. You have three first round draft picks in that group, two top 5 picks, and another third round draft pick.

This year, you only have a handful of your state's top 10 committed, and the team that just beat you in the SEC Championship Game appears to be ready to pillage your state yet again after already taking Xzavier Dickson and Adrian Hubbard.

In your own state's Top 10, you have one commitment, and of the remaining three uncommitted prospects, two appear to be headed elsewhere in the SEC.

You have more money than any team in the SEC according to several published reports. You have no viable in-state recruiting competition in the second most talent rich state in the SEC. Athens is awesome.

Yet, ya'll haven't appeared in the national title game in my lifetime.

What gives? I don't get it.

I don't either but can't even imagine our fan bases reaction if that regularly happened to us

Well, we can't get all of them.

On the flip side, we've gotten quite a few talented kids from states other than GA.

AJ Green
Knowshon Moreno
Gurshall
Fair Catch extraordinaire, Logan Gray

As far as the NC game goes, your guess is as good as mine.

Cam Heyward was a tOSU legacy, but still, yeah, UGA lets way too much talent leave their state. If Saban was at UGA they would win 5 NCs in a 10 year span.

There are over 200 DI signees from the state of Ga. It's kind of hard to keep all that talent when we can only sign 25 a year.

Heyward and Berry are Legacy, I think.
UGA Recruited Cammy Cam as a TE too but he wanted to be a QB and steal laptops so he went to UF.

Well when you think of all the schools so close to Ga, it is really impossible to get all of them. Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Vandy now, UF, FSU, SCAR, Clemson and sometimes the MS schools all going for our top players and we are gonna lose some.

What about signing more than one of your state's top ten rated players?

leave your state?

Yes, but as stated we can't get all of them. Still some key prospects lost might well have made the difference in potentially championship teams.

So was Berry for UTk.

Newton, i guess you could say was a frick up given that we wanted him at TE. But, then again, we had Stafford at the time and were wanting pocket passers over dual threat guys.

Bailey was from Sapelo Island near FL and Miami just felt more like home than Northeast GA.

But, out of state megastars we have to off-set this farce of a thread:

- Knowshown Moreno (NJ)
- Stafford (TX)
- Murray (FL)
- Gurley (NC)
- Marshall (NC)
- AJ Green (SC)
- Tim Jennings (SC)
- Orson Charles (FL)

Maybe you should make a thread about why those teams in those states don't wrap up their talent.

Or is it because they can't get everyone they want in-state, too?

You're kind of off.
- JJ Green is an EE and widely considered the states best all-around football player.
- Brice Ramsey is an EE and is considered the state's best QB.
- Tray Matthews is an EE and the state's best Safety.
- Shaq Wiggins is ranked up there with the state's top DB's.

Last year, Dickson was his father's doing. Daddy pushed hard for him to go to Bama and there are just some things you can't overcome in recruiting.

This year, we're still alive for Montravius Adams and Alvin Kamara. Plus, we're highly likely to take the top recruit out of FL (Laremy Tunsil). And we still have a good shot of taking Foster out of Alabama.

We only generate more profit, not revenue, bc our admins don't spend as much money on our programs as the other top teams in the sec; this includes scouts, analysts etc. Not to mention other factors come into play like legacies, style of play, or maybe a kid just grew up a fan of another team.

Unless Pitt changed their name to Ohio state in later years, no he wasn't a legacy.

But yes we should do a better job of locking down the top players in our state.

The state of Georgia is arguably the 4th best state when it comes to D1 prospects. On average, a team signs 25 players. There are 180-200 D1 prospects every year in the state. Not to mention, a lot of prospects did not grow up in the state of Georgia, therefore don't have a vested interest in any of the state schools. But UGA has had a lot of success grabbing talents from other states.
