F+ has Southern ranked #40, Georgia ranked #39. Gives Georgia a 59% chance of winning.

Southern has only played 3 teams better than 60th in the F+ rankings, @ WVU, Western Michigan and Appy State. No QB vs WVU, beat WMU, got hammered by Appy.

I watch almost every Southern game. Not nervous at all.

Man I hate scheduling option teams, see: FSU vs. Citadel last year. The risk outweighs the reward. UGA has to face them in back-to-back weeks.

UGA will win but GSU is no slouch.

Not really. It should be a good tuneup for our defense to get ready for Tech's triple option.

Southern doesn't run the Paul Johnson Georgia Tech triple option anymore. They run the shotgun/spread option.

we've faced similar offenses with far more talent. Sadly, I worry about us scoring points against air so we very well may struggle to score even on southern. However, Pruitt's defnese should keep them mostly in check and I think our offense can hopefully "out athlete" them. I wouldn't be surprised at all with only a 14 point win.

Apologies then, could have sworn Fritz meshed his previous stuff with the option that Monken ran and basically run the same sort of stuff just out of the gun. I know that they did that last year, didn't they? I could have sworn everything was out of the gun and not under center.

Haha you are sort of right. They run mostly out of the pistol and not the shotgun, and it's still a lot of the same plays the triple option runs just out of the pistol instead of under center.

They can be dangerous, if your head coach is named Muschamp.

Ah ok, I thought I was losing my mind.

I see where what I said seemed different though. They basically run the triple option, the QB just isn't under center.

why? It seems like in TO offense, being directly under center would only help. The first option is the dive up the middle, which if you're in teh pistol seems like would be easier for the defense to read since you're several yards back and have a better sightline to the ball/handoff.

Southern can smell the fear in the air in Athens!! This is the time to finally get those poodles!!

Kidding, Southern will keep it close for a half and then you guys will out-athlete us and pull away in the 2nd half.
