I heard the most common sense on a sports radio show concerning this storm.

This guy said he had spoken with officials in the state of Florida when the subject of football came up. I will paraphrase what he said. Oh, and he said exactly what I posted yesterday about how irresponsible it would be to play football on the road leaving family and pets behind but he added much more.

"When dealing with a hurricane you just don't know what they will do. I am told that hotel space is needed for victims, not football fans. I agree with this. There will be damage in areas and much loss of power. This is not the time to worry about something so trivial as a football game."

"I have been told by authorities that because of this storm they don't have the manpower to spare for things such as sporting events. Loss of power in some areas will take a while to restore."

Etc etc etc. Basically he was saying without mentioning UF by name that they and others made the right call being cautious not knowing what this storm might do.

Now the crybaby fans will say "then just come play at our house" because they don't give a shite about coaches and players etc leaving their families and pets behind to fend for themselves. All they give one shite about is a football game.

When south Louisiana had that horrible flood in early August, you got sympathy from all the Sec fans. I'm sure had it happened during football weekend you'd have told your coaches, broadcasters, players, equipment managers etc to leave their families and pets behind because you neec to play @Florida.

If you guys only realized how idiotic you look with continued whine threads about the UF game in the eyes of people with common sense then you'd be embarrassed. End of story!

It certainly adds more to the conversation than "UF cheated" 500 times.

I'm perfectly fine with that. But if that is the story you're going with, the call should have been made 2-3 days sooner.

2005. Moved our home opener w/ North Texas to October (we played 10 games in a row), moved our next home game against ASU to Tempe, Arizona (ZOMG leaving our pets behind!), played the next game against Tenn on a Monday night. Two hurricanes and we didn't miss a game.

Don't talk that shite to us son. We faced the same situation as UForfeit only worse and manned the frick up and played the games. UForfeit in their safe spaces making sure their kittens and parakeet's survive the storm.

So what if this was originally schedule as an away game for Florida? Should they have been able to say "we can't make it"? I think you know the answer to that question

So in 2005 LSU moves it's home game against Tenn toa Monday night under the exact same scenario but UF can't - and doesn't even try. Laughable. Makes them, and know you, look stupid.

This is dumb. Your thread is dumb. If you believe this schlock, I have some land to sell you along the coast in south Louisiana.

There were people posting threads the night after our game with Missouri indicating that Matthew might impact the game in Gainesville. Everyone on the gulf coast knew this was a possibility for over one week.

There are only two possible things that happened: (1) the UF administration is so dumb that they waited until Thursday afternoon before deciding that Matthew was too big of a threat and Sankey is so dumb that he allowed them to wait until the last possible second when no other alternatives were possible, or (2) Foley and McIlwain manipulated the situation playing with their players and fans lives in order to dig their heels in and say that there would be no other alternative site, it's either Gainesville or bust, and Sankey was too cowed by the might of Foley to put his foot down and give them an ultimatum of getting an alternative plan in place by Tuesday or forcing them to either play or forfeit.

Here is what Mike Slive said when LSU was forced to move its game with Tennessee to a Monday night (after having its first game moved to another date and having to play its second home game on the road and in the aftermath of Hurricane Rita, a second direct hit from a major hurricane on the state of Louisiana within one month): "After reviewing all of the information, I felt this was the best decision for the game. The safety of our student-athletes, coaches and fans is our priority," Slive said. "I understand this puts a burden on LSU and its administration. However, the travel safety issues necessitate this decision."

Listen up bigmouth. I have family in Baton Rouge and I happened to be there during and after Katrina. New Orleans was hammered, not Baton Rouge. So don't try that garbage with me because I know more than you think. Very misleading

So many asshats overlooking that there are about 7 games being affected by this storm. Only one that cancelled is Florida. Cowards! The rest of you are just trolls or natural liars.

Ok? And Gainesville isn't getting hammered either, and regardless LSU found a way to play all their games through two hurricanes, one being a top 10 natural disaster in US history
