Ever since OSU got a lead last night the theme has been that UF fans shouldn't be that sad about Urban winning a title there, as it is better than if he won three titles at Georgia. I think this is a false equivalency, and overall UF fans should feel worse than LSU fans.

When Nick left LSU, he upgraded to the NFL. The only reason he ended up at Bama was because the Dolphin doctors said Drew Brees was washed up. A few things go differently and Nick was the Pete before Pete was. A natural order of events made Saban go to Bama, and without the Dolphins he maybe would have stayed at LSU.

Meanwhile UF had Urban leave for the most BS reason in modern football. He acts like he is done-for, but obviously still had enough in the tank for another title. It is VERY VERY obvious that he made an excuse to hop to another elite program rather than clean up/face the issues at UF.

It might suck seeing Nick win at Bama, but at least he got there naturally. Meanwhile UF fans that were watching last night had to be thinking "if we had an AD that gave a shite about spending money on football would that be our national title?" As UF fans watch Urban is creating a dynasty up north at a yankee program that is more SEC about its football than UF is.

Urban should have been UF's Bobby Bowden, but instead he was a unnatural Nick Saban. They have to settle for a new coach that their cheap AD paid $7 million to get because the press backed him into a corner, with the same shitty pile of facilities and local challenges that made Urban runoff in the first place.

At least you LSU fans have an administration that is all-in on football. Coaches come and go, but a commitment to winning is a process that takes years/decades.

I don't know yet, as I said it takes years/decades and we only started in 2011.

No. Y'all had the highest paid staff last year and a new huge lego of facilities.

Meanwhile UF paid Boom so little he barely got a pay cut going to be Auburn's DC.

So we should have paid Muschamp more money? The guy was terrible, under what possible circumstance should he have been given a raise?

BTW, at one point Urban was the highest paid college football coach in the country. Spurrier was when he was at UF. It is a myth that we don't pay well (as is the facility argument).

UF was never Urban Meyer's final destination. Even when he was there, he was a Mid-west guy that said his dream jobs were Ohio State and Notre Dame.

UF was lucky to have him there for two national titles.

UF fans should feel lucky that he came at all and didn't go to Notre Dame instead.

I disagree with your premise, although it is interesting.

Saban would have faded out in the NFL eventually, even with Brees. Way too authoritarian. NFL players don't respond well to Saban's type of coaching. I actually don't fault Saban for going to Bama (wish he hadn't, but I don't fault him for it).

I don't think Urban citing his health was an obvious excuse. The dude was having heart problems (probably helped along by the crazy expectations he had built at Florida and the out of control players).

UF is committed to winning, they fired a coach that went 11-2 in his second season.

No, but you should have replaced him with a six million a year coach you stole from someone else. Like OSU did.

That is no myth. Your facilities are nowhere near the SEC elite.

He also went 4-8 in his third season. abysmal 8 loss season should cancel out even a national title winning season. (Chizik)

If they were committed to winning they would have replaced Boom with their own Urban Meyer.

Didn't Ole Miss outbid them at only $4ish mil a year? Pathetic.

At least Saban left us in better shape than Urban left Florida. I wonder how bad OSU will be when Urban gets "sick" again.

A bit of a stretch. Valid point about Saban to NFL more "natural" than Meyer quitting football then going to tOSU
