It's not just baseball. Remember the sugar bowl a few years ago? Ever noticed how they bring the second least visiting fans to football games of all east schools (poor Vandy)?

Worst fans in the conference.

Isn't it widely known that Florida's fans don't show up like other top tier schools?

All of Florida's fans were at the Softball game watching their defending national champions play a real sport.

Yeah other than football we are pretty meh. We had enough people in Hoover to cheer us on when we bounced the corn dogs though obviously. We are just trying to make it fair for the other team.

UF doesn't support baseball the way other SEC schools do. Will usually finish somewhere in the top 15 for attendance and that will be the extent of it.

If it is UF-FSU for the super, the place will be packed. The games against Florida rivals are the only ones to get the big crowds.

This is not true, maybe a lot don't go to Ole Miss (don't know I've never been) but been to plenty of others and we travel as any fan base I see come to Gainesville.

Nah, he was right. For whatever reason UF doesn't even compre to Bama, Auburn, UGA etc in terms of traveling fans. Although I kind of understand. It seems like the whole state of Florida is like that in regards to their sports teams. The state just has too much to do I guess

My only point of reference is what I see when I travel compared to what comes to Gainesville and the difference is negligible.

I think it is a combination of things...

Florida may have the fewest multigenerational fans as most of their success did not occur until the 80's and 90's

Florida has lots of yankees who invaded the state after the Civil War (seriously, till around 100 years ago, almost nobody lived in south Florida)

Lots of pro sports and other college sports in the state

Lots of things to do other than sports in the state due to climate

The stadium doesn't help, either...

...no shade. On a hot day, it's almost unbearable to sit in the stands.

Yeah I can't figure out why we don't have a roof over the stands. It's not like we can't afford it. Makes no sense.

Besides a few schools, is college baseball ever well attended?

It's because it wouldn't help, as has been noted before. The field needs to be flipped, so the stands face north.

Where would UF play if they decided to go all out and replace the current stands?
