The state of California had law AB 1887 go into effect on January 1st that prohibits state funds or state-sponsored legislation to go to travel to states that have laws that discriminate against the LGBT community.

This will apply to UCLA as well, along with any athletic programs in the UC and CSU system (Fresno State, San Diego State, San Jose State in the Mountain West, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, Long Beach State in the Big West are all affected).

All scheduling events that were signed before January 1st will not be affected, so Cal football’s games at North Carolina this season and Ole Miss in 2019 are still (for the moment) going ahead as planned.

Tennessee governor Bill Haslam signed House Bill 1840 into law last April, which allows licensed counselors and psychologists to turn away LGBT patients that suffer from mental health problems.

Tennessee had tentatively been scheduled to start a home and home series with UCLA in 2018 at UCLA's Pauley Pavillion, with UCLA scheduled to play at Thompson Boling Arena in 2019.

Tennessee will host North Carolina next season as part of a 4-year agreement and will also continue a 4-year pact with Georgia Tech.

Neutral site games with Virginia and Arizona are also being discussed and a long term home and home contract with Memphis will begin in 2018.

The Vols will also play in next season's Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas. The field includes Villanova and Arizona.

Very dumb imo as I was looking forward to the trip but still some solid games coming up.

Relax. The bill allows licensed counselors to turn away clients who engage with a lifestyle which conflicts with religious beliefs, provided that they refer the individual to someone who will treat them.

It's not really a big deal, but of course, snowflakes will melt.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that, among other things, it's designed to protect a counselor that would hold the view that someone who wants to undergo a sex change operation by definition suffers from mental health problems. Counselor shouldn't be forced to accept such a person as a patient.

Why is it that the Southern welfare states are always the most repressed?

Is it because the people in them don't have jobs so they just think up ways to hate on everybody? Maybe it isn't their fault they're unemployed... It's obviously the gay/liberal/black/muslim/atheist conspiracy rather than the fact that they're fat, uneducated, lazy and overall pieces of shite.

Maybe if they put as much energy into working as they did on discriminating.. they'd have actual economies.

Why does California stop at the LGBT state law discrepancy?
Why not also include if other states have different marijuana laws? Death penalty laws? state income tax laws?
