Yeah, no. It doesn't. I lived through that live and in person. He even admitted himself how difficult the offensive change was and scaled back the extent of the playbook a few games into the season and Sherman, though his positive attributes are many, is a man that doesn't really admit to mistakes.

I think we are exaggerating the heat on Saturday.

90 with 70% humidity is practically fall weather.

I fricking hope so. Gets miserable in the cheap seats where you can almost touch the sun

Fresno State was a legitimately dangerous game for both the players and the fans. It should have never been played at the time it was. It still wasn't an advantage for us because those Central Valley boys could take the heat.

90 degrees is a chilly day by central Texas standards. Bring a jacket.

don't think you now what you are talking about. Stanford steam rolled us because Mazzone wet the sheets and could not counter what Stanford's defense was doing. Most of the points came in the 4th quarter when the game was already decided. The SC game was competitive until SC figure out his 5 play rotation.

yeah you are right but you have to have superior offensive line which UCLA did not have and TAMU is lacking as well and Mazzone makes for no compensation for it eaither.

for all the great offensive stats that Mazzone put up last two glaring ones no here likes to talk about.

UCLA was 125th in time of possession kind of explains why the defense was so bad besides losing 3 starters and a slew of other players off and on during the year.

UCLA was 89th for plays for a loss, rushing offense 59th which is horrible. Passing offense for a true freshman was 25th good for Rosen despite the bad play calling. Mazzone is a stat guru yet he has failed to take his teams very far.

At this point I think you are almost ready to blame 9/11 on Mazzone. If Earth was hit by an asteroid, you'd probably come here to blame Mazzone. We get it, you don't like him - I don't think he's great either - but the level of hyperbole you engage in with respect to him makes your posts comical and devalues your opinion in the eyes of people reading your posts.

The stands reflect heat to the playing surface. This will be an endurance contest.

I was picking A&M until I saw how bad their run defense was last year, 105th. There will be huge holes in the D-line. Also, UCLA has the better quarterback. That being said the score will be close and both teams will be in it late in the 4th quarter.

You are not kidding, UCLA has the depth on defense, RB, WR to handle rotations but no bueno on QB or OL. It is going to be tough. thankully Mazzone is horrible with TOP, is TAMU defense deep?

One example from 6 years ago when both schools had different coaches and were in different conferences? Man, you are really disproving my point.

I ain't gots time to go through each season to pull quotes from teams saying it's tough to play at Kyle.

Have we won as much as we used to at Kyle? No.

Is it any easier to deal w/the crowd and heat than it was in the 80's and 90's? Hell no. If anything it's much harder than it used to be.

It's sure as shite louder than before b/c there are a hell of a lot more people at each game. I'm also confident w/the field lowered and surrounded by stands on all sides it feels much hotter b/c there is no more air flow down there.

You say it must not be hard to deal w/b/c we haven't won as much while I'd say we've won games we might not have and have stayed more competitive in games that would be bigger loses had they been on the road.

Heard they were really struggling just to get the calls in earlier this Spring and they had a bunch of delay penalties. The terminology for the offense must be difficult for the QBs.

They had one off-season in today's limited practice environment to install a WCO, coming from Mazzone's handful of simple Air Raid-type plays. Anyone remember Sherman's first game after trying to install a whole legit WCO playbook? Whoa boy...[/quote]

People are assuming UCLA will run a WCO because they are incorporating pro style concepts into their offense. UCLA's offense will be more complex, but likely far less than a WCO. From what I have read and seen, it is a hybrid offense using many different styles Polamalu has picked up along the way. And that includes Mazzone's offense, which Rosen ran in High School as well as his first year in college. Already knowing a portion of the offense given you ran it last year should help any offense transitioning to a new one.

Something to think about regarding offenses in college. The QB in shotgun with four wide and running the zone read is practically the norm now and defenses are much more used to playing against this type of offense than one with a TE and a FB. Teams in general will have much more to prepare for when playing UCLA than the last 4 years under Mazzone. Go Bruins!

What are the site lines like, the stadium looks beautiful. The Rose Bowl has great site lines no matter where you sit, though the seats are small like 1940's era small and 1/3 of the seating are bench seating.

The only way Kyle is an advantage is if we have a defense.

We have no defense.
