Aggies, how do you all feel about this good. I should probably stay awayfrom this one as admittedly, I don't know much about either team. I see A&M is getting -3 for being at home, but other than that...it's pretty much a tossup.

Do you know anything about your new quarterback? What about UCLA? Anything?

Of course we know about Knight. He's a 5th year transfer. He was okay at OU. He's been a great leader and expected to manage games.

UCLA has a stud QB returning. Probably the favorite to be the top QB pick in the 2018 draft.

Both offenses are putting in new systems. A&M stole UCLA's OC in the offseason. UCLA has the edge in QB and maybe OL. A&M should have the edge in WR & RB.

Both defenses should be good to great. A lot of talent on each. Both need to show they can stop the run.

UCLA knows A&M has been weak against the run. I suspect that they will try to take advantage of that. Then if we have to load up the box Rosen will throw on us.

If we can get them in 3rd and long, I think they are in trouble in spite of Rosen.

I don't expect a high scoring game. Both defenses are decent, both offenses have new coordinators. The O/U is in the mid 50's I think. I'd take the under on this one.

They were almost as shitty vs the run as we were. They just did it in a more pass heavy conference. Maz likes to run the ball more than Spav. They're going to need to load the box too.

All I know about this game:

1) it's gonna be hotter than hell
2) I'm gonna be drinking heavily
3) Ags gonna win

I've thought UCLA would win. The closer it gets, Im just hoping for a good game.

First game of year, on the road at noon cst (10am PST), in a hostile environment will effect the Bruins more than I was thinking earlier in the summer.

I think UCLA is good and will end up being really good but that first game stuff esp going to Aggie town could be a problem

Sumlin has an incredible record in openers and in bowl games. If memory serves he is 9-1 in those two in the last five years including a win over UCLA. When he has extra time to prepare a team - watch out.

A&M is normally pretty good at the beginning of the season until their lack of depth gets to be a concern. We believe they are a little deeper this year at almost every position (Sumlin doesn't share injury info). I think they have a good chance of starting off 6-0 before facing Bama. I think this season will look a lot more like the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

He also had a good bowl record, but look what that got us last year.

Lost both starting QBs and they still almost won that game against one of the more talented teams in the ACC.

UCLA was the most affected team in the NCAA by early entries into the draft. They are going to huddle and try to slow the game down. This should help them compete at Kyle Field, but nobody should expect the same gaudy numbers from Josh Rosen this year in slower paced pro-style offense. They are also replacing almost all of their receivers, so don't expect them to be able to adapt well to late shifts from the defense. Rosen struggled earlier this Spring with intermediate and long throws because he hadn't developed a good rhythm with the new guys. He had to go to a bunch of screen passes, which was exactly what most of the UCLA fans were complaining about last year.

Earlier in the summer I thought UCLA would win this game, but the more and more I've thought about it, I figure A&M will come out on top. Sumlin is usually pretty great in season openers.

What's interesting to me is that Aggy hired UCLA's offensive coordinator. Aggy should be able to devise a pretty solid defensive scheme due to this. But also, it tells me that Sumlin is going for broke this season. It's a mercenary coaching staff move. Sumlin is on the hot seat.

Uclas starting guards weigh 285. I think we put the pressure on them early and often.

No. If A&M still has those same scrubs on D, you'll be average. You have a great coordinator w/ mediocre talent.

Here's a fact. I bet UCLA doesn't have more than a handful of kids that have ever played in the type of atmosphere they'll be subjected to. That alone should give Ags 6 points.

I really don't believe that Allen at the helm would have made much of a difference against Louisville. Our offense sputtered all year with all three QBs.
