I did not even know that this was NOT going to be played.
I know Auburn will no longer play reverse Rammer Jammer.
The PC crowd wins again...
A student government senator at the University of Alabama wants to make sure a popular song stays on the playlist when the Tide takes the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
SGA Senator Patrick Fitzgerald has launched a campaign to make sure "Dixieland Delight," by the band Alabama, remains a tradition during Alabama football games. In a YouTube video posted Wednesday, he asked students to come to the SGA senate's meeting Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. -- two days before the Tide's first home game of the season -- to show support for the song................
"UA regularly reviews all songs played at our athletic events, including 'Dixieland Delight,'" Deborah Lane, the associate vice president for University Relations, said in a statement. "It is always our goal to represent the University with class in every endeavor, and the behavior of our fans is an important element in that effort."
The controversy has not been about the song itself, but about phrases students add between the lyrics, particularly one about rival Auburn.

It's a great tradition, and what young impressionable Alabama fan in the crowd hasn't heard the "f bomb" before?

This country is truly fricked.

I hope they keep it. It's a great song, and hilarious when they add the words. I'm jelly

Dude you want to talk about sad, our AD wrote an official apology to Alabama for the fans chanting frick You Bama.

I don't.
The students are there to have fun. You can be sure the students will find a way to chant this without the music. And it's not like this gets heard on TV. They only play the song when it's a commercial break.

I thought Tennessee was Bama's rival? That's why we had to keep that whole Third or Fourth Saturday in October thing going...

We actually include frick Yous to both teams in the chant.

The entire student section needs to band together and chant the F word for a few minutes at the start of every quarter until they reinstate it.

The lyrics the students add go as follows:
"F**k Auburn! And LSU! And Tennessee too!"

Except in the Iron Bowl it became:
"F**k Auburn!, F**k Auburn!, F**k Auburn!, F**k Auburn!."

I'm fine with singing that during any game. If anything, I like it better than "we just beat the hell out if you."
