When it rains in Lubbock, the first thing you see is a huge dust cloud coming. Then it starts raining mud.
After everything is nasty, it finally starts raining water.

Decades ago my grandparents were considering moving to Lubbock, TX. My grandfather was wanting to buy some land, build a home, and "harvest deer."
My father always tells me how happy he was when he heard from my grandparents that they were moving to Kerville, TX instead. He said he didn't want to visit them in the equivalent of a third world country.

When I was living in DFW, I was offered a job in between Lubbock and Midland. My friend told me that he would go back to Fallujah before moving to Lubbock. He was born and raised in Lubbock.
