Tubberille has a lot to say on Ole Miss situation (looks bad in his opinion), outlook for SEC this season, differences in SEC and Big 12, etc, etc, etc. Goes in-depth on why Saban is so successful. Really great interview. BTW, he'll be working for ESPN this year as college football analyst.

Tubs was a great coach that doenst get the respect he deserves from Auburn fans or opposing fans

I mean, Ole Miss fans have pretty clear reasons for disliking the man

Agree. It was hard to take with his famous quote of "fear the thumb," but deep down I always respected the guy, I mean he comes across as just likeable.

I always thought he came across as a smug jackass. Of course, the "AU" on his shirt probably had something to do with me thinking that. Regardless, his teams always played an attractive brand of football (up until the ill-fated spread experiment, at least).

I know where you're coming from bro, but after six in a row in this state, I can't blame him.

It would be a lot different had '03 not happened and Auburn had the chance to play for the BCS title in '04. Hell, if he gets to play for and win in '04 he goes down as one of the greatest coaches in AU history. Regardless, I still loved most of his tenure here.

His smugness in 99 is why Auburn hasn't won in BR since then.

Sorry, but why would TT have any more sophisticated understanding of the situation than the average Rebears-obsessed Rant-poster?

Great interview. It is apparent that us fans don't know shite when it comes to the respect level these coaches have for each other. Our fandom clouds our perception of reality, we are all guilty of it...

Agreed.
Which is why it hasn't happened since.

Sure, about a million years ago.
So did Houston Nutt, more recently.
As if TT is going to step up and say "that shite was going on while I was there and it probably still is".

Why do you think O failed?
Apparently he thought he could recruit at OM without cheating.
Can't blame him for overestimating his recruiting skills, as good as they are.
