I thought, according to the article, that the best high school player in the country this year is a kid out of Georgia, same HS as Nkimdechi and signed with Clemson?

2. FLORIDA
There's a rich baseball tradition in Florida, where the weather rivals California. That's one of the main reasons it's one of two states that host Major League Baseball teams – the other is Arizona – for spring training every year.

Best Current High School Prospect: Oscar Mercado, SS, Gaither (Tampa)
The Florida State recruit is one of the slickest-fielding shortstops in the country.

Best Former ALL-USA Selection: Chipper Jones, 1990
The future Hall of Famer, who retired at the end of last season, batted .488 as a senior at The Bolles School (Jacksonville). The Atlanta Braves made Jones the first pick of the 1990 MLB Draft.

Best All-Time: Steve Carlton
Carlton was born and raised in Miami and attended North Miami High School and Miami-Dade Community College. The 10-time All-Star and four-time Cy Young winner was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1994

"The following is one man's mostly unscientific, highly subjective ranking of the Top 10 high school baseball states in the country. Does your state deserve to be on this list, or should it be ranked higher? Make your case in the comments."

Tennessee has better baseball high school talent than South Carolina.

Yes, but is he going to actually step foot on campus? Or will he go to the MLB?

Tris Speaker is one of the early All Time greats. Played with Babe Ruth in Boston and won the WS twice. Ended Ty Cobb's run of battling titles. Was a freak of a CF as well and was famous for having 6 unassisted double plays where he played shallow and caught a line drive and beat the man back to the base. Elected to the HoF in the 2nd Year of its existence.

Stewart is listed as the best prospect in Texas, not the country. Even though his parents are Aggies and he apparently bleeds maroon it's hard to see him passing up Top 10 money to play QB/P at A&M. We will see.

If he's the highest rated high school prospect, I highly doubt he makes it to campus.

Stewart should go the Brandon Weeden route. Take the baseball $, then if you don't get to the show in 4-5 years come throw balls at Kyle Field. He's not getting any p/t behind Manziel for at least 2 years if not 3.

That is of course barring JFF's death penalty from the NCAA.

If you don't mind my asking, where did you get this data? I'd like to look into that.
