If it happens today, when was the last time the top 4 seeds in the SEC tourney actually made it to the Semis? I can see KY, UGA and Arky winning pretty comfortably. The only one I see that can get beat IS LSU, as much as I hate to say it. This is the teams they struggle with! But if all top 4 win, I know this will the be the first time its happen in recent history.. If its happened at all

Our starting SG, best perimeter defender, and one of our best 3 point shooters is out today and SC has our number. We should win, but it wouldn't be a massive upset. Early line is UGA -2.5

UGA

Lost to USC TWICE in the regular season and we could very well be without Kenny Gaines while Juwan Parker is still be limited. UGA is probably going to lose this one.

Imagine how good this team would have really been had yall been healthy all year! Hopefully for UGA, that game last nigh with Ole Piss took a lot from USCe

Yep. In all honesty we may have gotten 2ish more wins. Despite our injury problems, we've won a good bit with people sidelined. I don't think our NCAAT seeding would be drastically different were we fully healthy.

And honestly I'm torn about Gaines. If we have any chance of winning more than 1 game (hell, it's UGA...even winning 1 game) in the dance we need gaines to be 100%. As awful as 3 losses to SC would be, I highly doubt it would boot us from the ncaat. I'd almost rather him just rest up. Or maybe, if we win tonight with him sit him against arkansas. Advancing farther in the SECT after tonight means literally nothing considering we have 0% chance of winning the whole thing anyway.

We will lose tonight. Probably works out better for UGA too, hopefully bumps us down to a 10 seed.

We lost to USC with Thornton, and Parker out, then again with JJ, Parker, and KGP out. We will be without Gaines and Parker.

USC has also played a game already and should have good momentum coming off that win last night.

USC wins by 6-8 points tonight

I think there's some truth to a team who already played a game having a leg up on the middle seed teams. However, SC has a depth problem, and our starters have carried us the past 2 games/days.

So the question is, "do SC's starters still have some gas in the tank?"

Missing our former starter Henry and one of the first guys off the bench in Sheppard is not going to bode well for us the more consecutive days/games we play.

Although, it has been mentioned in this thread, we do just seem to have y'all's number.

That'll be the biggest factor IMO. SC is kind of "in the zone" after playing already while we'll likely come out cold, but they've also played the late night game 2 days in a row while we're fresh.

Should be an intersting game. I also wonder how much our guy's heads will be in it. We've basically got a tourney bid sewn up, and I think deep down they all know we aren't going to win the SECT because kentucky.

Im interested in seeing how LSU comes out for this game. With the upsets so far, they have to come out playing hard and focused from the tip. Time to stop dropping games to teams you have no business losing too. Play like you played at Auburn. Earn your bid to the NCAA, and then tomorrow against KY your playing with house money. And yes, I believe KY will beat the Gators!

Yes, but the way I phrased it makes it sound far more dramatic ;)

Georgia could come out really cold, but both Ole Miss and South Carolina looked like dog shite last night. If Georgia plays any type of respectable game, theky should win.

Shoulda coulda woulda though....

Don't be so sure on Arky. Tennessee 2-3 zone gave us serious problems both times we played them this year.

Honestly, Gaines acts as more of an emotional boost than anything. Of course he's an ace perimter defender, but he waffles between hot and cold as a 3 point shooter (see UK game, which we still managed to lead despite his poor showing). What he provides and what we've been missing in games against Auburn and Carolina is a spark. He is immensely gifted athletically and can throw down some monstrous dunks or stroke that perfect 3 at the right moment to get the team going. So, not having him hurts us less in the sense of "oh no, how does UGA gameplan around his absence" and moreso in a "shite, if UGA comes out cold then who is going to get their blood pumping" sense.

I mostly agree with you, but I don't think his defense can be understated. It's a nice feeling knowing that we can almost lock down the other team's best guard with KG out there. He is by FAR our best perimeter defender. Plus, his being on the court will often times mean Mann isn't, or at least he's at the 3 instead of the 2..which is good since mann is good for multiple turnovers a game.

Oh my God, this may be KG's biggest asset to the team

Agreed, but the problem with Tennessee is they can go on long droughts w/o scoring. If Arkansas can come out and hit some shots early, they could put Tennessee in deficit early. Should be some fun games today. See if the underdogs can keep it going or if the top seeds hold form. Auburn and USCe should interesting to see how much both teams have in the tank while playing their third game.
