Well I remember an Arky fan posting something like this last week, probably to divert the attention away from the Petrino issue, but I kind of liked the idea. Amidst all the circle-jerking it would be cool to see some of the worst moments in each SEC school, cause even the strongest and most historical had their bad days. I know its tl;dr which is why I bolded the events for easy skimming purposes.

10. Leaving the ACC, 1971: though joining the SEC was the greatest thing to happen to our athletics, wandering around as a middle-sized school with no national recognition trying to be independent for decades was an awful idea.
9. Papajohns.com bowl loss to UConn, 2008: Maybe it shouldn't be on this list as a single game, its recent so it is still fresh in the minds of all Gamecocks but damn an embarrassing loss to a basketball school in a crappy bowl?
8. Overall Bowl History, 5-12: Didn't get our 1st bowl win until 1995 (Taneyhill led of course) but compared to some schools, 17 appearances isn't crap, 5 bowl wins is something some have accomplished decades ago. Hell Spurrier is tied for most bowl wins as a coach here (with Holtz at 2)
7. 1 Conference Title, 1969: To be fair we had some good teams as an independent and we continued to play a lot of ACC teams so who knows if we could have grabbed a couple more but who is to say. I also remember reading an article about winning an ACC title before that but it was vacated.
6. Winning record against only 13 current BCS conference teams: Self-explanatory but in case you're wondering who its Cincy, UK, Miss St., NCSt, WF, UVA, VT, Texas, Ohio St., KSU, ISU, USF, and Vandy
5. 1990 loss to the Citadel: Self-explanatory, not only a loss to a small in-state D2 school but probably one of the most arrogant D2 fan bases you'll come across.
4. 2007 Second Half Season Collapse: Started 6-1, ranked as high as #8, only loss @LSU. At home against Vandy, what happens? We blow it. Lose to Vandy and to everyone else after that finishing 6-6 and bowl-less. Also including an OT loss to UT and a last second FG win by CU. Rough finish.
3. 63-17 loss to CU, 2003: Clempson fans still like to talk about this one nearly a decade later. Its about all they can think of to say anymore with the 3 straight arse beatings we've given them. Went to the SC@CU game in 2010, a Tigger fan was flying a "63-17" flag at his tailgate 7 years after the game.
2. Loss to Navy, 1984: Only the Gamecocks would have one of the worst moments in what was the most successful season in terms of wins. SC was ranked #2, had a national title game invite in hand regardless of the result of the CU game the next week. Not only do we lose, we lose by 17. We beat Navy in '82, '83, and '85, but blew it when it mattered most.
1. 0-21 stretch, 1998-1999: The Gamecocks have had some pretty bad seasons and stretches but to have one so bad so recent? And to be 6 years into the league and field one of the all-time worst SEC teams?

eta: I'm sure there are other events that could be up there and that order could be changed around but that was off the top of my head.

you can add South Carolina hasn't beaten Auburn since 1932 (or a year close to that) to the list.

Yeah if SC and AU had played more frequently between that year and the time SC joined the SEC maybe.

In no particular order

1) hiring whitworth

2 1973 loss to notre dame by a point. had we won that game, we'd probably be talking about the 73 team as bear's best.

3) 74 loss to notre dame, 13-11 after leading 11-0. Cost us the coaches poll.

4) ncaa doesnt use lube on the monster cock going in our arse.

5) Punt Bama Punt.

6) La monroe

7) Napkins in a bar on bourbon street.

8) 1989 iron bowl. Curry actually was in position for national title.

9) Pensacola Strip clubs

10) january 26th 1983.

1. Loss to Maine
2. Vandy being the only SEC team we have a winning record over
3. Losing to OM 45-0 in 2008 (also a good moment as it lead to Crooms firing).
4. The Immaculate Deflection LINK

First few that come to mind. Other state fans feel free to add to the list.

In no particular order...

- Humiliating 77-0 loss to OU in 2003
- 1975 loss to Arkansas, when we had Nat'l title aspirations late in the season
- 27-25 loss to t.u. in our Big 12 farewell
- 5 come from ahead losses in 2011
- Resorted to hiring a retired insurance agent as a DC in 2006 or 2007
- The 1995 14-7 loss to TxTech stands out in my mind for some reason. I just remember that one being extremely tough to take
- Loss to ULaLa in 1996

Dont be so sad, you have A&M now too. You should add all-time losing overall record though.

For Ole Miss.
1. Jacksonville State
2. Billy Cannon's punt return. The '59 team would have been considered one of the greatest ever had it not been for this.
3. Losing to Southen Miss in 1970 when we were ranked #4. We seem to have never recovered from that.
4. Eli falling down against LSU in 2003
5. The whole 2011 season
6. Hiring Billy Kinard instead of Bob Tyler
7. 1970 vs LSU. Archie played in a cast. We got annihilated.
8. 2007 season
9. 1970's
10. 1980's

The Cotton Bowl game where your player comes off the bench to make an illegal tackle definitely should be on the list.
