He pulled one and two 4 stars. Everyone else on the roster are 2 and 3 star players. And Sumlin was plenty successful at Houston as well. Herman looks the part but he's still unproven running a major program. I personally don't think he's currently worth what it would have cost LSU or TX to get him had there been a bidding war. The fact he may work out isn't a reason to pay the dude that type of money
No Ed O was not my first choice, but I also don't think Herman was the slam dunk hire many convinced themselves he was/is. He was just the hottest young name available.

If he wanted Saban money, it should have been done via an incentive laden contract. Not guaranteed.
But, if he can get it guaranteed, then more power to him. Can't blame a guy for asking or not turning it down when offered.
The ADs should have only offered him an incentive based contract. But they, esp UTx were under so much pressure to make a splash and get the most sought after guy available.

Agreed. No heterosexual male high school student is going to want to be kissed by an old sweaty man on national TV. Can you imagine what he tries to do when the cameras are off. Thank you for not hiring him, none of us want to see that. its not that it's offensive it just seems like he is trying too hard to push an agenda and get attention. A better way to do that would be to just be the first coach to come out of the closet.
