Bama and LSU are the only 2 teams that fit that mold this year. Just in case any of the other 12 teams still think they have a shot.

Freeze knows he doesn't have a chance at this point. Sumlin is still in the game but I think we already sent him the message.

To win a championship you need to score points and stop the other team from scoring points.

There, fixed it for you..

Your team just needs to beat Bama to set up the LSU/A&M game for the West.

Ags will take care of our business the rest of the way.

I agree with this.
It just so happens that LSU's run defense and run offense have aligned extremely well this year.
In fact, the difference in yards/rush vs. yards/rush allowed is much better than it's been in the recent past (since 2003) at 3.84 (including Florida game).
for comparison
2003 - 2.1
2007 - 1.7
2011 - 2.06

If you look at the team stats of every national champ for the last 25 years you will see OP is correct.

Having an elite defense is far more of a contributing factor to winning a national title than having an elite offense.

The cliche is a cliche because it's true, defense does win championships.

Sure there are outliers every now and then, but like I said, look back and you will consistently see the national champion almost always has one of the best defenses in the country, far more frequently than they have one of the best offenses.

There are a few outliers here, but more often teams have a very prolific offense, so your statement for the recent past is false
