Nice practice post ahead of a season full of Chavis choke-jobs.

Time of possession is an outcome, not a control.

Time of Possession is very important in some situations, such as those where your own defense is reeling and you'd like to keep them off the field for a while.

Okay. We get it. You don't understand football.

Tell that to anybody who's ever actually played football on the defensive side of the ball. TOP absolutely matters, it's critical.

No. It's not even close to the most overrated statistic in football.

Exactly, that distinction goes to unadjusted passing defense numbers which are supplied without any other defensive metrics.

Team A. scores 6 touchdowns and takes an average of 2 minutes to drive the field each time; every other possession results in no points and lasts less than a minute

Team B scores 15 points, all on field goals resulting in long sustained drives averaging 6 minutes each, their remaining drives end scoreless but only after a minimum of 5 minutes of slowly moving the ball.

One team completely dominated TOP, the other team completely dominated the game.

Yep. If you pick two atypical scenarios, that would be how it plays out. Also, without knowing that the other teams did, you can't say anyone dominated or didn't dominate the game.

Because those random scenarios correlate to any football game...

Time of Possession goes hand and hand with field position. If you control TOP, you most likely control field position.

Aggies wouldn't understand that though, considering your offense is built around a perimeter air raid passing attack which any defense with talent will eat up.

I don't know as I don't have the "want to" to go look up all the history of Pro style offenses vs the gimmick high school offenses but I do know that it's harder to score when the other team has the ball.

I played on defense and say bs.

Alabama is the only top 20 TOP team that made the playoff at number 20 TOP.

Win the turnover ratio and consistently score TD's in the red zone and you will win a lot of games.
Couple that with a strong defense and you win championships.

Since you played defense....How did you feel emotionally and physically when a team kept you on the field for long sustained drives multiple times during the game? Did you team have enough stamina to counter a balanced offensive attack that ate up the clock? Did your team have enough depth to consistantly defend in those drives?

Like someone posted earlier, TOP is important mentally and psychologically to a defensive unit and by the end of the 3rd qtr on into the 4th qtr many teams just give up on defense. I've seen it dozens of times since Nick Saban has been at Bama. I've sat in the stands and watched our offense drag out an offensive drive so long that it literally broke the oponents will.

The OP and all of his Aggy ilk have been shite on in this thread.

You may want to consider a RA for deletion at this point.

It is when you run an offense that actually transitions in to the NFL

You have to have the ball to score and defenses wear out quickly !
