So he got a "temporary permit" from the store he bought it from in Louisiana. Can anyone from Alabama tell me if that carries the same weight as a CW permit?

if you have a permit in any other state it is valid in Alabama

I don't think a concealed permit transfers from State to State. As I understand it, he would need a concealed permit for the State of Alabama.....or this is what I have been led to believe anyway.

Fear not, UA fans...Saban has said his methods prevent such actions. Internal "discipline" will make sure that this never happened. It has to be some trumped up charge. Just because you are a football player plays no part in your case.

No, they do. Alabama honors any other states permits. usually you need to be a resident/citizen of state to get a permit in that state

That is all true. However, Tim doesn't have a concealed weapons permit. The articles say he had a temporary permit, and there IS such thing as a temporary concealed weapons permit in Louisiana. To bad those temporary permits are only valid inside the state and NOT valid in any other state.

I don't believe that one state can declare that their permits aren't valid elsewhere. If the state in question has a reciprocity statute the issuing state can't declare that statute inapplicable.

Would depend on how Louisiana views it.
Alabama has a reciprocity agreement with Louisiana so if they consider it a valid concealed carry permit, then Alabama would honor it.

Not true.
It has to be a state with whom Alabama has a reciprocity agreement. There are a ton of them, but some of the states with more restrictive permit laws won't recognize our permits so we don't recognize theirs.
ETA: We do have reciprocity with Louisiana.

I dont know about that
quote:
A person licensed to carry a handgun in any state shall be authorized to carry a handgun in this state. This section shall apply to a license holder from another state only while the license holder is not a resident of this state. A license holder from another state shall carry the handgun in compliance with the laws of this state.
Alabama's law seems pretty loose. if valid in LA its valid in AL

There is no temporary concealed carry permit you must attend a class to get a concealed permit

A regualr CCW permit from Louisiana is valid in Alabama. A temporary permit is not. It say so specifically on the Louisiana State Police website.

There actually is. But it is only valid for 45 days and only in Louisiana. It is also invalid if you fail to produce it rigjt away when asked.

I'm guessing you mean this:
That simply means that Louisiana does not guarantee that a reciprocal state will accept the temporary permit. It does not mean that a reciprocal state CANNOT accept the temporary permit.
This is not difficult to understand given that the State of Louisiana cannot determine was is or isn't valid in any other state.
quote:
Provides that the temporary concealed handgun permit:
1. Is valid only in Louisiana and shall not be considered as satisfying the requirements of reciprocity with any other state concealed firearm provisions.

Not reading 13 + pages, but I think I have the basic outline of this story:
LSU fans hate the Constitution
&
Nick Saban is running his own Fast & Furious gun ring in Alabama.
Does that about cover it?
