McCarron obviously showed that going with him was a good decision, but what was the issue with Sims?

Sims is playing pretty well for the Cardinals in the preseason right now, and hes been pretty accurate with his throws and showed off some athleticism.

I'm not sure what his deal was once he left Bama. He just got beat out for the starting job at UA... But when he left he had some issues at UVA and ended up leaving there too. Really glad to see him doing well.

If for some crazy reason he ever starts a game in the NFL, we will claim him as a Bama QB.

Why couldn't he win the jpb at UVA with little competition? Where he originally transferred. Ended up at Winston-Salem State for a reason.

Does look good though. Hopefully makes someone's practice squad.

He went back to Virginia because of family issues.

The announcers said when he got to the pros they found out Sims couldn't see shite.

They fixed his vision and it helped some

His dad was having some serious health issues, which must have been tough to deal with, considering his Virginia experience. I'm thrilled to hear that he didn't give up. I didn't know he was on a pre-season squad.

He was a mystery. Great HS player but never got it together in college. Always liked him; good family. Hope he continues to do well.

AJ was a better game situation QB and had a year longer in the system. Philip Sims actually made a strong push for the starting job in 2011 then kind of fell apart towards the end of fall camp. They split time in the first game vs Kent State. McCarron got the start vs Penn State, played well, and the rest is history.
