Thoughts on Alabama Teabagger 2 year sentence?

What is the general consensus of the outcome of this case. As an LSU fan, I think 30 days in jail would have been sufficient. Had it been a female being teabagged, there would be no question that he should spend 5-10 years in prison. Having a debate with a Mizzou friend who thinks the whole case is ridiculous.

I think the whole case is pretty ridiculous, but understand that he needs to serve some punishment.
I think 2 years is one of the most egregiously harsh penalties for the crime committed that I've ever seen.

he is the one that agreed to two years. I have no problem with it at all. He did something stupid and there is a price to pay for doing something stupid.

I really hated that when it happened. Bad representation of Bama.. but yeah, 30 days probably wouldve been good enough.

I agree. Punish him with 30 days or something but two years, not to mention all the tax money that costs, just seems a bit absurd.

2 years seems a little extreme, but I don't really have a lot of sympathy for the guy.
I seem to remember something about a boot camp recommendation from the judge or prosecution. I think that would reduce his term if he successfully completes the program.

harsh considering drunk driver usually gets off with a probation even if they injure someone.

well he kinda deserves it considering the prank was pulling his balls out in a public place where people eat. I dont think his life is ruined though because he didn't have much of one before this whole thing happened and its not like they are tagging him with registering as a sex offender.

I don't care at all. 1 day or 20 years, it's his problem. He did something that was stupid and would never cross my mind to do. That, combined with the fact that I wouldn't know him from Adam, and I just couldn't care less about what he did or his sentence.

I think a soft white guy with no friends in OPP will emerge a very different 'man'. A harsh penalty for stupidity but it's very hard to have sympathy for one of those 'assholes of the world' that I'm sure most of us have come across at least once in our lives.

I don't think he should have been given any jail time. I think the entire thing was blown out of proportion and that the DA was overzealous in in the manner in which the offense was billed. But I understand why the Alabama fan took the plea deal considering what he was charged with and what he was facing. But if I were on a jury, I would not have convicted.
