This Saturday could be a Coach Killer

Auburn vs. LSU
There is a good chance that the losing coach may be fired after this one... or at least the decision to fire at the end of the season might be made immediately following the game. A loss for Auburn would almost assure them of a 6-6 type of season at best. A loss for LSU would bring them to 2-2 while not yet facing off against a single ranked team (at the time of the game at least).
Tennessee vs. Florida
If Tennessee loses, cue up the "Fire Butch Jones" banners. The Vols will have lost 12 straight against the Gators, setting a record for the longest ever losing streak for any team in a "Big 6" contest. Jones himself would then be 0-4 against Florida. And Tennessee would be staring down an upcoming stretch of games at Georgia, at Texas A&M, and against Alabama in the next three weeks. Not good. A loss Saturday essentially eliminates The Vols from winning the division, and I don't see Jones surviving another mediocre year.
On the flip-side, Florida losing to Tennessee won't get Jim McElwain fired, but it may signal the end of his honeymoon period. A loss Saturday would make 5 consecutive losses against ranked opponents for McElwain.
Spurrier's longest losing streak against ranked teams was 3 games (happened twice).
Meyer's longest losing streak against ranked team was 4 games... and he promptly left Gainesville following it.
Zook's longest losing streak against ranked teams was 5 games... and he was promptly fired because of it.
Muschamp lost 5 consecutive games against ranked opponents to start his career at Florida... then turned it around to win 4 of his next 5 games against ranked teams... but then collapsed again to lose his next 6 games against ranked teams.
So it boils down to this: If McElwain loses Saturday, he'll stretch his losing streak to ranked opponents to five games, and if he were to then lose the next one, a six-game losing streak to ranked opponents would tie for the longest such streak by any one head coach of Florida since Charlie Pell lost 9 in a row back in '79 and '80. It's hard to think if McElwain gets into that territory... let alone loses to Tennessee for the first time in 12 years... that he won't start to feel a little bit of pressure.
Texas A&M vs. Arkansas
Like the situation with Florida, this game won't get either coach fired, but the heat might very well turn up against the losing coach. Sumlin entered the season on the hot seat, but after wins over UCLA and Auburn, his seat has cooled a bit. Losing to Arkansas would get it heating up again in a hurry.
Bielema seems incapable of feeling any heat no matter how much he loses, so I'm not sure losing to the Aggies would have any effect. However, starting off your career 0-4 against Texas A&M has got to anger at least some Hog fans. There are literally no easy SEC games left for Arkansas. They close out their conference schedule with Bama, Ole Miss, @ Auburn, Florida, LSU, and @ Miss St. A loss to Texas A&M could literally trigger a stretch in which Arkansas could be an underdog in every single one of those games.
Bottomline: This Saturday will have as much drama in the SEC as any I can remember in quite a long time.

If this season turns out like I think it will and A&M loses big to Arkansas then continues to lose 3 more games this season I think sumlin is gone.

Ok, so you're obviously trying to troll someone but I can't figure out who. Not sure if that's good or bad actually so I'll just down vote to be on the safe side. If I discover the troll I'll get back to you.

Nope. Just interesting observations.
Of course Arkansas fans will read it and accuse me of trolling just because they get sent into a tizzy over anyone stating concrete facts about their program.

The fact that you are a Bama fan and have the ability to read is something to be proud of.

Pretty much spot on. Only thing I semi-disagree with is on McElwain. Having lost Del Rio kinda gives him a bit of a pass if they lose I think in the minds of their fans.
Keep posting Kyle, always worth a read =)

Dude that's a weak arse statement.

Good info Kyle. I think the honeymoon was over with Mac when we got shellacked by Michigan though.

Brings up Arkansas before any Arkansas fans post. Will the sail someone pulled on you ever fade from your memory.

If schools are bent on firing losers they will get a damn good chance this weekend.
Stoops - don't even know if he's on the hot seat - seems that Kentucky is content with a Vandy type season. Boom will roll with the Cocks this weekend.
Bert will be taking it deep from Aggy. He's a decent coach and still working on his team, but when do Hog fans get enough "improving"? Aggies have speed and are fun to watch.
Butch will fail once again against Mac and the Gators. I'm glad that beady eyed bitch is not down here. Jim Mac scares me - his teams will dominate the East soon.
Wouldn't surprise me to see Vandy lose again, but Mason and Stoops seem safe no matter what happens.
Seems to be a lot of LSU fans still hoping for a loss, or just an ugly win so the coaching change can be hurried up, but Gus takes an epic arse whipping at home this weekend.
Barners will be in full tilt melt down next week.

I'm probably going to regret this but ...
What happens to the losing coach in the SCAR at KY game IYO?

Thought about including Stoops here, but I think the heat is already turned up about as high as it could get. Losing to South Carolina probably won't make much difference either way. My guess is that everyone in Kentucky thinks its time for a change, the question now is can they afford it?
As for Muschamp, its VERY early. Coming off a 3-9 season, its a bit much to ask him to turn South Carolina into an Eastern division contender. Losing to Kentucky would certainly not be good, but its not like South Carolina is an easy place to come in and win right off the bat. Holtz went 0-11 in his first season there. Spurrier faired better at 7-5, but did lose his first 3 SEC games.
A win, and South Carolina will have quietly won 2 SEC games already... which is one more than they did last season. Gamecock fans can't be all that mad if there is at least improvement in Year 1.

The only real coach killer game I see is Aub/LSU. The loser will chunk the season, and that will get the coach....I expect a very interesting game from them. It's like a gladiator fight where the loser dies and the winner lives for another day.

LSU is the only that could be said for. Auburn couldn't fire Gus if they wanted. They would have to borrow the money from who ever hire next to pay his buyout

when does Kirby get in trouble ?
what if he only wins 10 games ???
