Then there's the whole Nick Saban thing, left LSU in the prime of their football history and later returned to coach the team that owned baton rouge for 3 decades, I don't think that helps the love between the 2 schools

Don't forget to add that for the past 3 decades, LSU has won at Bama 11 out of 15 times. I don't think that helps the love between the two schools either

This is it in a nut shell. Take Saban out of the equation and Bama vs LSU really has no rivalry at all. It is all because of Saban for me anyway.

Which is why the game means a lot more to LSU fans. I really don't care where Saban was at before he got to UA.

Funny how the Gumps on the SEC Rant always wet their pants and throw a temper tantrum anytime someone mentions LSU and Alabama as "rivals". Yet Alabama's own Sports Information Department references the LSU-Alabama "rivalry" at least three different times every odd year in the football program.

Stop obsessing. We said "no."

Irrelevant to the point I was making. If the coach at alabama in 10 years leaves for LSU, then you could make the same point I was making...A key factor to the "rivalry" is that your coach came to a school that dominated you at your house for a while.

I think it has a little do do with it. If nick saban were at tennessee right now with a .500 record against les miles I doubt the hate would be the same. Tiger fans over 40 don't like alabama because they grew up watching them beat lsu's arse in baton rouge every other year

No hate from me. I got to see LSU in return beat Alabama's arse in Birmingham or Tuscaloosa every other year.

UT is in the SEC East, it wouldn't be the same.

I completely agree Saban going to Bama is the major factor in kick-starting the hatred that LSU fans have for Bama right now.

But, the fact that Bama beat us in Baton Rouge for 3 decades, while we beat you in Bama every other year has nothing to do with it. You see.....Bama fans love to point out one side of the story (beating us in BR) while completely forgetting the other side (LSU winning at Bama).

When you have to tell the fans why the game is a rivalry, it's not one.

A few years of intense competition does not equal a rivalry.

Bama will not have a new rival within the next few decades. LSU, I think has a chance to have a nice one with the Aggies but the Aggies will always hate UT more.

Something tells me you weren't around to witness it so I'm not sure why you feel qualified to speak on the matter. It's the same reason alabama fans hate notre dame. And lets not pretend like lsu has ever dominated alabama like bryant dominated lsu. 30 years without a single loss in tiger stadium. Rantards gonna rant

Kinda odd how obsessed Alabama fans are about jumping up and down saying its not a rivalry.
