During ANY "investigation" the outcome TENDS to go most favorable to the politically connected.

I just don't care to rehash something from 7 years ago, that doesn't matter any more. It's not my job to "make a case". And I don't care what you think. Only Barn fans don't think it happened, and you'll never change that. And I don't understand why you keep trying.

I've been on this board for a couple of months...read it daily but don't post too often. I've read someone comment on this pretty much daily. I wouldn't have brought it up if it weren't clear that other fans were hanging on to it...which the comments here prove.

Now this I can understand. But that's just the way it is here in the Rant. I 'm not one of those guys that get off on arguing on the internet, but this place makes you crazy sometimes. That's why I've been here 7 years and have so few posts. I have to walk away and not let it draw me in.

People commenting on it now are pretty much just doing it as a jab at the ribs of AU fans. They don't really mean anything by it. You should've been here in 2010 and you'd have seen some major venom on the subject. Most of those guys who lived and died by the story are gone now though.

I've long felt AU put on an absolute clinic from a compliance standpoint in how they handled that. And I've long believed that Cam had zero clue his dad was shopping him. I don't know (or care at this point) if someone representing AU's interest every found a way to get money to Cecil or even if they wanted to. The most interesting/sad thing about it all to me is that Cam so trusted his dad that he let Cecil make the decision on what college Cam was going to attend assuming his dad had his best interest at heart and Cecil was trying to shop him. That level of betrayal of trust by a father to his son had to sting.

I don't believe UGA is without flaws. All schools push the rules to obtain athletes & keep them eligible. But I do not believe UGA would accept an athlete with the following facts/history:

1. Academic integrity/cheating issues @ UF 3 times
2. Felony theft of a laptop
3. Circumstantial evidence of involvement/association with pay for play

Note UF did not suspend/expel him for multiple academic violations & still did not expel him for the laptop. They let him leave in good standing to protect their recruiting {i.e. you get lots of protection here} Callaway is a good example of this. A scholarship at a Div-I FBS school must mandate some basic academic & character standards (like no theft/assault/sex assault) similar to the standards expected of regular students. Otherwise the school cares more about winning & $$ than reputation & character. We all must decide where our Alma Mater should stand & make it so. I am proud of where UGA sits on that scale. Are you OK with where your school is at? And what does that say about you as a person?

IMHO, Cam did not deserve the stage he was given to develop & market his NFL career. This decision was way past the idea of giving someone a chance to change . Proper penalty would have been to make him find his way to the NFL via a smaller school ( i.e. Crowell @ Alabama St). Whether AU bought his services or not, they agreed to let him represent the character and standards of AU. This is why the Cam stain on AU will last a long time.

Auburn is paying for its sins now from getting off scot-free in the Cam Newton saga.

I'm assuming that the 12 upvotes given to this (mystifying as though they are) were done in a "so bad that it's actually good in a laughable, entertaining way" mentality.
