We find out if he's for real or not. I always had a "all hat, no cattle" view of him. Seemed very style over substance to me. I still kind of get that vibe from him. However, I must admit I think he now has UT trending up. He has a team that should be a legitimate player in the East. Great young DL, bevy of playmakers, and a promising/talented QB.
Credit for assembling that group. Now we'll see what he can do with it. Another 6/7 win season with this group isn't good enough.
FWIW, I think UT will finish second in the East and win 9 games. Wouldn't shock me to see them vastly underperform though.

But in all honesty, he's done a very solid job and I do think UT will improve some more in 2015. His track record has been solid elsewhere, so i've always respected that about him.

I'm on the same page as you. Can't really make up my mind about Jones. No doubt he can recruit and bring in elite talent. I agree with you, this will be the year to really get a read on him. I think if UT wins 8+ games then he will make UT a national player in 2016 and beyond.

Mixed feelings with their schedule (OKLA, ARK, UGA are at home; @BAMA and @UF, @MO). Like I said with my previous post, should still be a solid team regardless. Should be an interesting year for the teams in the East.

If UT wins 9 games, ill be happy. I agree that this is the year that proves a lot, VOLS should win some ball games.
I too, think he is gimmicky, but that's part of him being a salesman which he obviously excels at. The jury is still out on his game day coaching as he has had some blunders.

He won 4 conference titles in 6 years before he came to UT. I think he'll do great especially with the talent he's bringing in every year.

I personally don't give a shite if he dresses up as Minnie Pearl on the sidelines as long as he wins games. His gimmicks are sometimes cheesy, but they seem to get a lot of people excited and shite.

He is what he is (I've met a few times), but at the end of the day he's a good coach who's won elsewhere. I don't think he's that cheesy, tbh.

Fwiw, I didn't think his screw-ups (this past year) were as bad as some people were making them out to be. I feel like he has done a very good job so far. I'm not trying to down him, but he has a long way to go

This is the stupidest argument that's ever been made. Why don't you give us more of your genius insight on Riley Ferguson and the QB situation. You know, if Ferguson doesn't pan out then Butch is done cause he can't recruit QBs. Remember when you said that?
BTW Butch has the best QB class in the country for 2015.
