Saban wants to be the best college football coach in history. He has 5 titles now, one behind Bear. He won't quit until he surpasses him or it becomes apparent he never will.

He has reached the age of retirement, proven all he can,
Coach Saban is just 1 national championship from tying Coach Bryants record and 2 to pass him.

Maybe if he wins this year's and next year's natty, he will retire.

I know how much yall love Bryant, but Saban's already surpassed him.

I'm just glad Mal didn't fire DuBose in '99 and get him before LSU did. He'd probably have 8 or 9 NCs and a dozen SECCs by now.

That's like 40 years ago, man.
Are you suggesting that Nick Saban will be coaching at Alabama when he is 100 years old?

Saban has at least 3 years in the tank, maybe more. Guy loves what he does, is healthy and has an ego the size of Texas and he's two nattys short of being the most decorated coach in CFB history.

As far as Dabo, he'd crawl naked on glass all the way to Tuscaloosa to take that job. He's basically said as much. The question will be if he is who Bama targets or someone else. But Dabo turning down an offer to Bama isn't going to happen, not even a chance.

The thing that sealed the deal for me on this prediction was Alabama's recent run-ins with the law. All the whispers of impermissible benefits, firing coaches, players being arrested on felony drug/weapons charges, players smoking meth, etc.

Usually, good coaches tend to get out of Dodge before their reputations are tarnished (see Pete Carroll and Chip Kelley).

Something stinks like Walter White in Tuscaloosa, and for this reason, and all the above reasons, this really is the year Saban hangs it up and takes up riding jet skis drunk full time.

I will. But at least I won't have to dream to see Auburn beat Arkansas!
