Clemson is ranked #1 for one reason: because they beat Notre Dame.

The traditional darlings of college football polls of lore have returned: Alabama and Notre Dame. If only Texas and Michigan had one loss, than this poll's fail would be complete.

How is Notre Dame 4 spots away from the #1 team they lost to, and Florida is 8 spots away from the #2 team they lost to?

How the frick is Alabama...?

Bama and Florida have 3 common opponents, who also double as the best on their resume: Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee. No contest. It appears Bama is getting a freaking turbo-boost from the world-beaters themselves, the unranked Wisconsin Badgers.

And I'll go ahead and say it: the Big 12minus2 got hosed big time. Blame Bob Stoops

And frick Bama, if I hadn't said so already. And Georgia.

Wisconsin is 7-2 with their only losses coming to top 10 teams. There's really no way they're a worse team than Houston or Toledo.

Also the key to ND and Clemson being ranked as highly as they are is probably USC. They still rank top 15 by basically every advanced metric which is boosting ND's SOS and Clemson's in turn.

I'm just saying the lsu 2 and alabama 4 is only because they play this weekend. the loser will go behind florida.

Alabama will. LSU won't. I can easily see LSU losing a close one and falling to 4 or 5.

Wiscy is literally #26 and Toledo just lost. Unranked. Haha.

Im glad Bama is #4. It gives them a little hope that they are still in it this season. Which will make it that much sweeter when all that goes up in flames this weekend.

Jk. If Alabama loses they probably bump up to #3 because thats another quality loss

If LSU loses the only thing they will have left to play for is knocking Ole Miss out of the SECCG.

We have been repeatedly told that everyone hates LSU so much and loves Bama and Saban so much that their is no way they let LSU into the playoff, and according to the posters here, a team that can't win its division or conference shouldn't be allowed to win a NC.

I agree though. If LSU losses by 7 or less and then wins out they would be in the playoff.

Make no mistake, this is happening regardless

I agree. Bama being ranked higher this weekend actually helps LSU (again, assuming we lose and it's close). Further that scenario a few weeks, and Bama gets UF in the SECCG and not LSU. I'll take it

Of the many inconsistencies I've found with the rankings this is the most confusing. There is no justification for Notre Dame being ranked 5th and Florida being ranked 10th and Stanford being 11th.
