Classic Les

I still can't believe they fired this guy.

His teams were tough as hell and those guys would run through a wall for him.

Ed fricking Ogeron, really?

And btw, anyone who "can't believe" LSU fired Les is a fricking idiot & should never pretend to know a damn thing about football. You trashed LSU every chance you got, now you turn around with this "can't believe" bullshite? Get the frick out of here.

Players liking their coach isn't a new thing. Coaches defending their players isn't either. In case you're wondering that was in response to a dumbass reporter calling Russell Shepard a flop to Les Miles like he wouldn't go off after that. Regardless, being a "players coach" is irrelevant. His refusal to adapt and grow with the game was his undoing. And fwiw, not sure if you noticed, but the players wanted O to get the job

I also find it weird the same people calling Miles an idiot for years are the same people shocked he was finally let go.

The post was about the great Les Miles. A lot of people had a lot of respect for that guy and hated to see the way he was treated.

From the dangling in wind at the end of last season to the firing after 4 games into the this current season.

Les deserved better. He turned down the chance to bring back his alma mater from the grave in order to stay at a place where the people didn't appreciate the job he did.

He will be missed and LSU will regret the way he was treated. It's probably the reason they were not able to attract a quality coach and settled for a substitute teacher.

infatuation (in-fat-u-a-tion) - an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone or something.

He was paid very handsomely every time there were even rumors of interest from other schools. And he'll continue to be paid 10 million more to do nothing.

I'm skeptical of O, but Les did railroad some of his players at LSU.

LSU did the right thing firing Les

Now, hiring O can be debated heavily as being a huge whiff in his replacement, but only time will tell. Interesting enough is I am not totally against the move. There really weren't a lot of home run hires available either. Give O a chance and try again in 2-4 years.

Letting him dangle in the wind last season and firing him 4 games into this season was not the correct way to go about replacing the most accomplished coach in school history.

The way things went down probably hindered LSU's ability to attract a quality coach. It's probably why prospective coaches where demanding so much.

That is a lot different than your OP. It was the right thing to fire Les, but yes it was handled poorly. There are no real top level coaches available. Jimbo isn't leaving FSU. He can recruit talent and play in the ACC.

Herman was their play and Texas was his goal.

O could surprise and turn out to be a great CEO who can recruit. We shall see. Not sure why you are so vested in this that you are so upset though???

I'd say that lsu has lost their collective mind, but one can't lose what one doesn't have.

It's pretty fricking clear LSU had their head up their asses with that. They had no plan after firing Miles except Jimbo. Jimbo was never coming to LSU. So they had nothing.

It's part of the delusion that lsu fans think baton rouge is the end all b all of college football. It isn't.

You see numerous threads trashing la, cities in la like baton rouge, yet the asshats thought anyone would want to move here and coach?

When Joe said we had our guy all along it reminded me of a scene from Joe Dirt.
