With Jeremy Foley retiring after an illustrious career at UF, I do believe Scott Stricklin (new UF AD, Miss State Grad, and former Miss State AD) will want to make a move to show boosters he was the right hire. Allowing McElwain to say he was interested in Oregon, may grab the attention of Phil Knight and Company out in Eugene. Oregon has the money to buy out McElwain's contract with ease, which in turn will allow Florida to have money to bring in a coach of Scott Stricklin's choosing....which would be Dan Mullen.

You people are high if you think Scott would hire away from State. However, I'm sure he has someone else in mind and I bet Mullen/Meyer will play a big role in consulting.

My priority is telling, not spelling.

Does he have ties to Oregon? Why would he go there? Why would they want him?

If he wouldn't he should be fired

McElwain played college ball at Eastern Washington.
I believe Oregon would hire someone like McElwain to re-brand the image of Oregon football. Completely change the perception that Oregon football is gimmicky and plays no defense.

McElwain will likely finish this season 8-5, with three consecutive blow out losses to finish. No booster at Florida would or should except such mediocrity. The house of cards McElwain has been keeping together for two seasons is likely to collapse next year.

Maybe you should change your priorities. The Gators don't want Mullen back in Gainesville. Been there done that and he still sucks.

And our offense would be just like MSU's this year. What is their record again? That's right its 5-7 and 3-5.

I wouldn't mind Mullen at UT. For what little he has to work with, he does pretty well. With a talent pool like UT's he could do big things, or at worst still be considerably better than Lyle.

It's Mississippi State, slow boy. Give Mullen the resources that UF has along with a shite load of top 100 nearby players and he would be hell to deal with.

UF is likely to be 8-5 with far superior talent and unlimited resources. Mullen has very few sought after recruits, plays in the SEC WEST with the big boys, and is limited by Mississippi State's resources. Face the facts buddy, McElwain is under performing. You may agree when Bama beats UF by 35 on Saturday.

Mullen is very underrated imo. If he went to a school like Tenn, Tam or UF he would do some damage.

Reading all this, and knowing no one really knows anything, but is there any substance to this rumor that McElwain's interested in moving on after winning the East back to back & going to Atlanta back to back? What does the roster look like next year talent & depth wise? Franks to be the QB?

All I know is when he was in Gainesville before people were calling for his head. I just don't think he has what it takes to win it all even with the advantages in talent Florida has.
