At LSU we'll make you a better coach, as opposed to the coaching graveyard in College Station.

Terrible thread

We were Muschamp's first coaching job.

FSU isn't in the SEC, so they don't count.

Jeff Grimes is the LSU OL coach.

Yeah, he also holds a degree from Texas A&M and was on Slocum's staff in the 90s.
Steve Kragthorpe was on both Slocum's and Sherman's staffs.
Steve Ensminger was our Offensive Coordinator and tight ends coach.
The football coaching world: 'tis a small one.

You're referring to when LSU breached the contract with A&M in the early 90s and gave yall ULL instead and they won. I'm referring to how yall whined about being in the shadow of Texas for so long and ran away from your traditional rival and conference.

It's funny because you don't know anything about A&M's move to the SEC.

I know where Ensminger attended school.
And I'm hoping Krag is doing well, wherever he is.
I was simply providing counterpoints to the OP's meaningless points
(which, come to think of it, probably make my counterpoints doubly meaningless).

Coaches are nuthin' but gypsies, whoring themselves out to the highest bidders.
And I don't blame em a lick.

That's the most controversial one I posted, so fair enough. However, he had accepted the Arkansas job when Pearl Harbor was bombed, but when he heard the news, he turned his car around and joined the Navy. There's even a story about it on your school's website somewhere, but here's a link to an Arkansas story on it in our student newspaper.

Fate Keeps Bear Bryant From Coaching at Arkansas

We offered him the job again while he was at Kentucky, but he turned it down and accepted A&M's job the following year. He said this about his contract negotiations with A&M:

quote:

“I had lots of offers from schools all over the country,” Bryant said. “The Arkansas people flew me in and offered me an oil-and-gas deal about three years ago. I’d be a millionaire today if I’d took it.”

That was in the fifties, so that's saying something.
