It comes from the early days in college sports. Ag schools all tended to be called the Aggies. So you'd have Texas A&M, Colorado A&M, Connecticut A&M, New Mexico A&M. Oklahoma A&M, etc all using Aggies as their nickname. .

The easy way for the newspapers to differentiate them and use less type was to call schools the Texas Aggies, the Colorado Aggies, etc etc. Technically speaking it would also have been redundant to say Texas A&M Aggies back then b/c the Aggie name indicates it's the Texas Agricultural school.


Eventually most Ag schools changed their names and/or mascots (Oklahoma A&M = Okie State, Colorado A&M = Colorado State etc) leaving very few schools left that go by Aggies. Since anything done at A&M more than once for more than a year turns into tradition the Texas Aggies shorthand for Texas A&M never fully went away.

Was USC suppose to be good this year? I seen y'all lost tonight, but I know nothing about basketball rankings. Was it an upset or kind of suppose to lose?

That would be some serious shame to you guys if y'all don't. Our Bball team is going to be complete arse.

They've been hyped quite a bit. Recall that their coach was the one who put Florida Gulf Coast into the Sweet 16 as a 15-seed a couple of years ago.
