Now that we've had two seasons in a row where an SEC team has had their scheduled F'd with due to a weather cancellation, the SEC needs to start planning better.

There was a time when cancelling of a football game was unheard of, but now that everybody is such gigantic pussies you have to plan for it.

I get the feeling real games would be played no matter what, so it's really just the cupcake games that are in danger of cancellation.

The answer is simple:

1. In the contracts that the little schools sign, start including language that states in the event of weather cancellation on Saturday they are required to stay over till Sunday to play the game or they don't get their check.

2. Always have accommodations ready in the event #1 happens, such that the visiting team has adequate hotels and facilities for the potential extra night over. The big host school would pick up the tab.

what about the referees, line crew, stadium workers, parking attendants, police for traffic control, stadium security, etc?

It's funny to see all the people who think it's just so simple as "let them stay in a hotel and play Sunday!" There's more to it than that. A football game is a massive undertaking and the schedules are known 12 months in advance. It's a tad difficult to plan and organize the logistics that go into a gameday on 12 hours notice.

You lose a W against a cupcake team. Who cares? Move on.

If you plan ahead, those "big" issues aren't so big.

It wouldn't' even come up that much, but when it does you'd be glad you were ready rather than just being like "Oh shite, well, sorry"

MLB games and NASCAR races get delayed all the time and the workers don't seem to have a problem being back the next day.

Yes and now it's happened two years in a row. The reason is that they are insanely over-reactive to the imaginary "dangers" that lightning poses.

Numerous games get delayed every single week now, many have been called early. This is a big growing problem over the last 3-4 years because of the asinine weather rules.

If we have to live with the stupid rules, they should have backup plans.

Yuk Yuk.. LSU fan ... cancellation of LSU v MeNeese was an Alabama plot initiated by REC who ordered the SEC office under their control in Birmingham, to drop the hammer on LSU. Laugh and laugh and WtF?

I am a part time LSU fan because I've lived here for 35 years, know the players etc.... but OMG!

Seriously folks... this was a hot topic on the TR. I shake my head and smile...
