The SEC has made basketball not watchable.

Whoever told the refs to call the games like this should be shot. This is beyond stupid. The other conferences are not calling games this tight.

I think the point is that the new rules are unwatchable.

This isn't a SEC specific thing. Our coaches /players just haven't adjusted like other conferences yet

I agree

I'm watching Louisville/Miami now and there's been some contact here in the first 7+ minutes of play , but nothing eregious ... the second foul (that's total) was just whistled because a 3 point shooter was slapped on the wrist.

2 total fouls at the 12:51 mark of the first half and the game has had an incredible flow to it due to the lack of whistles... Exciting to watch.

No way there's been 7+ minutes of an SEC game with only 2 fouls called all season long... Hasn't happened.

That's probably a bad sample. Both of those teams are known for hacking the frick out of you on defense. Especially Huggins teams.

Lulz, Huggy Bear teams should have 60 called in them in the half.

I'm not watching the game right now. Waiting on UGA/UT to come on but the worst of them is how completely inconsistent they are.

When Mark Fox got ejected it was over a carrying call. They haven't called carrying once since then and they could call it dang near every possession in somebody. This is just one of many examples across the league.

Basketball is practically unwatchable to me whether it is SEC ball or any other conference because of the officiating. If you skim the opponents jersey as he is driving to the bucket it is a whistle foul. Every other possession is a foul. That gets very annoying quickly.

I'm watching the Nova/Xavier game, and the refs aren't calling ticky tack shite. This is some really high level college basketball and it is very entertaining because it's not a freethrow contest. Love it.

Now that it's too late for anyone to do anything about it, I can reveal the truth. The new rules and enforcement are part of a plan by Vandy, Northwestern, and Duke boosters to destroy basketball and finally elevate Quidditch to the Big 3 sport it always deserved to be.

Also an awful lot of LSU and Missouri boosters have recently offered to help too. Not sure what the deal is there. Has something happened with their programs lately?

Players should stop fouling.

It's pretty easy.

Lack of consistency in the calls makes it really hard to understand what is going to get called. They may call something in this game and not call it for 2 weeks.

I can hardly watch our games and hardly ever watch any games we are not involved in. March Madness is a whole lot of fun though (even with the officiating).

It really is a tragedy. I love college bball but it's been ruined. I don't understand why they just don't go back to the way it was before the rule changes

Yes, as well as the SEC in the sport (sans UK). These fricks have made our teams more subpar than they actually are. Obviously, it has an affect on games, but it also gives a perception of shitty bball to the other conferences and media.

With the size of the NCAA Tourney field guaranteeing most decent teams will play post-season, that could be a mixed blessing. Obviously, it could get an SEC team a lower seeding and therefore a more difficult initial path (I specify 'initial' because once you get to around the Sweet 16, where you started in terms of seeding doesn't matter nearly as much) but it an also lead to opponents overlooking the team.

Yes but getting that seed, albeit a low seed, is key. I've seen a lot of SEC teams with 18 wins crack the tourney field.

I'll be shocked if more than 3 SEC teams get in. Nobody wants ugly basketball. Even though your team may be hitting a stride at the right time.
